Are these Bosch pads used?

I've never used bosch pads before. Got the front pair in from rock auto (waiting on the rear to show up so I can't compare). Now from my reading I know they're wrapped in paper and not shrink wrapped, so I expected that. But when I opened them up they seem used or oddly dusty... is this a process from the factory or are these indeed used? It is rock auto so the possibility is there. All hardware and packet of brake grease is sealed and intact. I see no paint removed on the slide ears, juat pad material obviously distrubed

Brake manufacturing is an incredibly filthy process. To me it looks like dust/debris forming naturally. It's growing kind of like an ice crystal.

ETA: My first day on the job in a brake manufacturing facility, I'd been told slacks and polos were required. As material and inventory supervisor, I knew 80% of time was going to be spent on the floor, so I went with gray slacks and some nice comfortable gray shoes. The first advice I got from another supervisor, ditch the grays and go with all black. It was all going to be black in a few days anyway. I had bought a couple of pairs of gray and tan slacks already, thankfully I was just able to return them. Ended up going to Goodwill for slacks, and the cheapest all black Kohl's polos I could order. I do not like wearing black, so I went with cheap and disposable.

Thanks guys! The backing plates look new just never seen stone with such a sanded looking finish, then again never handled bosch pads. Will run them!

Other end of things was worth asking since 1 of the 4 rotors for my truck that showed up has been mounted before🙄. Not ran but for sure a return.

Gotta love the rock auto gamble

oh look dirty finger prints.. yup it's been installed and then removed/returned. Hey like we've seen before it IS rockauto after all! Not surprised you received this from them..

Yeah it's got the ring on the inside and a few marks from assuming tapping it with a hammer. Otherwise all good just gotta clean it up. Ordered brakes for my truck and the wife's car and the bosch pads were in this same box so that's why I came here first 🤣

Like I said the rock auto gamble lol. Honestly only once ever out of probably 100 rock auto orders had I ever had to return something, and that was the wrong strut in a box (manufacturer problem, not theirs). Returning was a PITA but they honored it 100 percent

Those Bosch pads are new. Not a big Rock-Auto fan, however, I prefer other sources for brakes. FCP Euro, for one.

Every brake pad I've ever bought has been squared off on the ends not tapered like those are. Perhaps you have slotted rotors or vented rotors. I don't know, but they don't look normal to me with those beveled edges. I would compare them with another set. Just my two cents
