Are these Bosch pads used?

Just changed the oil in my son's 2016 Ford Escape and saw that his Cross Climate 2 tires are about ready for replacement. He had them put on in January of 2021 and managed a little over 73000 miles out of them so far. He does a lot of rural and highway driving along with city driving. Rotated them about every oil change (5000 miles) and never had to rebalance them. I will be picking up another set of them for him but the price has gone up about $200.00-$250.00 all in since his original purchase (BJ's). 235/50/18

Some of you are the epitome of weak. 30-40 minutes? 1 day? 2 days at UPS?

There is no way any of you that couldn't hack a menial, hourly job at a young age can speak against anyone today....

Thats pretty impressive. I shy’d away from them because I was worried about tread noise down the road.
On the opposite end of the Michelin spectrum are the LTX Premier series……they wear quick. I see them OE on Jeeps and they are bald by 40k.

ONLY max performance tires, generally 100wt (racing/track) or 200wt (track) are problematic when it comes to storing and driving 24hrs after being exposed to very low temperatures.
You basically need to allow tire to go back naturally to its properties.
Summer tires, performance like Micheling PS4S etc. are fine storing. I store my Yokohama Advan V601 that I track in a shed outside.

That being said, if you want all year around tire, Michelin Pilot AS4 or DWS06+ are best bet. Unlike your Pilot AS3+, mine on Tiguan are super quiet going 4th year.

I have DWS06+ on BMW for May-November and they are excellent. However, they are bit softer and not having steering feedback on par Michelin. I run 39/41psi to compensate. They are EXCELLENT in rain. Hydroplaning resistance is excellent, but braking and handling traction in rain is impressive.

I'm having a hard time deciding between the DWS06 Plus and P Zero AS Plus 3 on a BMW E90: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=324

I'm leaning towards the DWS06 Plus for its better NVH characteristics. While the Pirellis may be more athletic, I think the DWS06 Plus are good enough. My only reluctance is poor steering feel/feedback since that is the E90's entire jam

Mobil1 sold at Walmart is not made for a price, it’s the same exact mobile one you can buy anywhere else and it Has to be by API regulations … If I’ve said that correctly. Mobi1 may be sold cheaper at Walmart but that’s only because they buy more of it. Walmart SuperTech Synthetic & ST filters is equal if not better than Motorcraft synthetic blend oil and MC filters.

I’m not saying not to use Mobil1 or other brand name oils & filters. Use any good oil & filter in your price range(including ST) from your favorite store and you’ll be more than fine.

If you drive your car hard or ever take it to the track then you may want better oils. Otherwise you’ll be just fine purchasing by price. Including; SuperTech, Kirkland, Amazon Basics.

Other end of things was worth asking since 1 of the 4 rotors for my truck that showed up has been mounted before🙄. Not ran but for sure a return.

You'd think R/A would have least inspected the return and cleaned it up.

Gotta love the rock auto gambleView attachment 251567
You'd think R/A would have inspected the return and at least cleaned it up. Other than co-owner Tom Taylor, I don't think they have any skilled or semi-skilled people at all. My last order included an AC Delco HEI distributor ignition module. I received it in the proper box, but inside was an ignition switch!

I will say the on-line return questionnaire took into account every possible situation, including "right box, wrong part". They sent me a pre-paid USPS label and shipped out the correct part as soon as I dropped off the return at the post office. E-Z Peazy.

I've never used bosch pads before. Got the front pair in from rock auto (waiting on the rear to show up so I can't compare). Now from my reading I know they're wrapped in paper and not shrink wrapped, so I expected that. But when I opened them up they seem used or oddly dusty... is this a process from the factory or are these indeed used? It is rock auto so the possibility is there. All hardware and packet of brake grease is sealed and intact. I see no paint removed on the slide ears, juat pad material obviously distrubedView attachment 251547View attachment 251548View attachment 251549
They don't look used. The chamfered sections look even at both ends and sides. It looks like they might have been jostled during shipping or someone got them out of the box and then put them back in.
