Hi there, My ECM is having issues and my SUV is currently at the dealer, The dealer price for a new ECM including installation etc,. is $1700....Anyone know of any companies that offer ECM repair and programming services or selling a Refurbished ECM? Vehicle is a 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 engine.....Thanks

Is there any chance it's something other than the ECM?
The only code the dealer have is a ECM code, Vehicle is at the dealership, Going to the dealership tomorrow to get more information from the technician and service manager, The problem is a intermittent issue like loss of power, They checked connections, Wiring and connectors and everything looks in good condition. Mitsubishi had ECM problems with that particular year and model.

That sounds like a diagnosis of exclusion. Probably valid, but expensive if they're wrong.

It would be good if they had a shop ECU, reserved for troubleshooting, to swap in for confirmation.

You're reading my mind🤔, I was thinking the same thing, To save money I was thinking about buying a ECM from a low mileage vehicle and sending the unit off for Reprogramming and a Vin change.

Were you the original purchaser? Have there been any recalls? How many miles are on this vehicle?

I would mention to the dealer that you thought these cars were great because of the company's long advertised 100K mile warranty. It can't hurt to ask for a warranty fix, a goodwill warranty fix, or a discount on the bill.

Unfortunately, this is what happens when you buy the "off Broadway" brands.

The vehicle is good, There was a recall that was taken care of through out the years, I had two other Mitsubishi models in the past with same engine and never had any issues, Looking into getting the situation taken care of this week.

Did the recall concern this problem? I would fefinitely let the dealer know that this is your third Mitsu, that you are considering another, and that you expect to be treated fairly.

Yes, The recall was for this issue and they're familiar with the issue.
