I also married a woman who knows more about body work then I do....I loathe body work. She gets a zen thing out of it. We both bought our first vehicles. I sure miss my '76 Olds Cutlass Salon with T-tops and rare Hurst shifter(not ont the build sheet, only a small sticker on door jam. This car modified by Hurst Perfomance Inc..blah blah. pretty cool). Sold that car to some guy for 650.00 Saw it a year later full of holes and with the tonau(sp) cover ripped off.

My son-in-law was a college golf all-American and is a club pro now. A wonderful husband for my daughter, but clueless on mechanics. He brings his leased Impala over and says the oil change light is on.
(upon further review it's been on for XX months)
about 10,000 miles on dino
I say well I've got the stuff let's change oil.
Drain oil looks like shoe polish........

Don't buy a dark green off-lease Impala from Indy.

I was tweaking my dad's old Porsche at 14 y/o, someone had to do it. I had a good backround from my mom's dad, a Olds mechanic for 30 years. I know what the posters mean about kids. My cousin's boys would not know a thing if it was not for me. Her dad had a union car and paid ZERO attn to it. I try to tell people, tires loose air and engines burn oil. that's all they really need to know, but...????

I grew up working on one of the hardest cars to work on.... a Ford Aerostar. Add a 1977 Mercedes Benz 280E to that list... something I was supposed to get but too costly to repair. I got into an accident with the 1994 Grand Cherokee. I used Chevron Supreme in that Jeep. When I got the 1995, I ran Mobil Drive Clean Plus to clean out the crud of the original owner, who only put 65,000 miles from Feb 95-May 2003. I ran 2 short OCIs with GIII "Synthetic", then 2 2500 mile OCIs with Delo 15w40. Now it has Mobil 1 0w40. This weekend, I will be changing it with M1 EP 15w50 (thin 50 wt... almost a thick 40 pretty much). I drive the ZJ around alot. I have 91,000 miles on the Jeep right now. I am even going to take my Jeep on a road trip to Seattle, Washington. My jeep was voted over my friend's Volvo S60, 02 Taurus and (a no brainer to me), a Ford Explorer. With the amount of mileage I will put on, I have no doubts I will hit 100,000 miles on it. It drives better today than when I got it back in June 2003. It has a rebuilt tranny, installed by the original onwer at 40,000. It has towing package, including aux. tranny cooler. You can look at my cardomain site for modifications that I have done to it.
