are high mileage oils worth it?

I am currently using a 50/50 blend of meijer 10-40 hm and autozone conventional 5w30 regular to slow the oil consumption in my corolla . I bought the case at meijer hm for .32 a quart on clearance and have been using it up over the past year. I know it is made by wpp but I am wondering ?
Is wpp oil any good?
Is high mileage oil worth it in older engines?
Does it do what the companies say it will?
Should I try another brand of hm when this runs out?

WPP blends many oils and I'm assuming that they're pretty good oil meeting minimum spec at the very least.

Some people sware by High Mileage oils in their leaking/burning engines. I'm trying ValvMaxLife in my 80 Firebird FORMULA V8 that I purchaced new and now, only have 38000 miles on her. This engine and transmission has had drips(not major leaks nor burning) for years! So I'm giving it a try. The Valvoline MaxLife seems to have slowed down the drips thus far.

If you aren't experienceing any oil leaks/burning, I would stay with what works for you although High Mileage oil shouldn't hurt anything and usually have great add packages.

Char Baby - I used Valvoline Maxlife in my sister's Firebird Formula that had a drip too, and it completely stopped the leak after a few thousand miles. It's really good stuff, but I agree that I would only bother using it if the car is leaking/burning oil to begin with.
