Hi guys,

been running my car exclusively on E85 for the last few months now and it's due for an oil change and was just wondering if there is a specific oil that is better to use when running E85?

Currently running Royal Purple 5w30. Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T. Melbourne, Australia (coming into summer, but currently spring, approx temps low teen's to low 20's celsius). Car see's track use as well, but i also change after a track day anyway.

Going to do a used oil analysis as well, but don't know who in Australia does them yet.

cheers,
daniel

High PAO, low ester, high TBN IMO. You want something with excellent hydrolytic stability and acid fighting properties. Mobil 1 Extended Performance, Amsoil, and I think some grades of Fuchs would probably be great choices for you.

hmmm... i do have an option of amsoil, i get all my oils from performancelub.com - only guy i've found here in Oz that has good prices for the good stuff.
So you would rate Amsoil over Royal Purple in a E85 application?

I'd rate Amsoil over Royal Purple in any application, honestly. I like the company better, and I've never heard anything negative about Amsoil's products whereas I have heard a few negative things about Royal Purple's.
