Apple-the Enron of technology?

"In a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission last night, the company said all earnings issued since September 29 2002 should not be relied upon. It will also miss the SEC's next quarterly reporting deadline."

Apple Accounting Scandal

Most times when backdating of options occurs, it's employees and executives that do it, not the bookkeepers. They never get told and then, voilla, **** hits the fan.

15 years ago companies didn't even have to expense options but now there is this crazy convoluted formula to do it.

I don't understand why this big corporations seem to be always cooking the books nowadays. What ever happened to a little bit of morality?

The thing that worries me about Apple Computer is that they can't seem to increase market share much even with what is obviously a very excellent operating system. They have recently been able to increase their market share but they are still only about 5% of the market. I would feel a great deal more comfortable if they were 10% of the market.

I personally believe that Microsoft right now is in big trouble. The Windows Vista O/S may be a dud. If this should be the case it could potentially be a failure as bad as Copland (Copeland?) was for Apple Computer. Apple came close to going out of business. If Apple cannot increase market share now with Microsoft hurting there is something very wrong.

The ideal situation would be for there to be competition in the marketplace. If Apple had 30%, Microsoft 50%, and Linux 20%, I think we would all be better off.
