Apparently, I'm a hoarder too

was cleaning up my garage, organizing piles and got to my oil stash.

32qt Trop Artic 5w30
30qt Trop Artic 5w20
26qt Trop Artic 10w30

8qt Mystik JT8 10w30 (for the new tractor)
5qt SuperTech 10w30 (for the old tractor or plow truck)
4-6ish qt NAPA 90w GL-1 (in 5-gal pail,needed 13gal, bought 15gal, used some for other stuff, guessing on qty)
3qt Castrol Edge 5w30 (left over but needed for top off)
2qt Pennzoil Plat 5w30 (left over)
1qt Mobil 1 0w30 AFE (bought one too many)
1qt Castrol Synblend 20w50 (very old - using for top offs in the old ford)
0.5qt Trop Artic 5w30 (left over from top off)

Not shown:
2 gal Traveller 80w90
1 gal Supertech Merc/Dex3 ATF
1 gal MMO
2 qt 80w-90 Marine gearl oil
1 qt Mobil 1 ATF

Considering i found an entire case of 5w20, I'm probably forgetting some.

I wouldn't say i have a problem, but i do go through a lot of oil!
At least the Trop Artic only cost me $1.99/qt

you must be well off, sometimes i drive around a quart low because i cant afford to buy oil to top it off

That aint too bad. At any given time I have an oil filter or two for every vehicle/OPE, one or two OCI in oil, 5 or 6 quarts of top off oil (random brands, same grade I run in my van), a few gallons of mixed HDEO I run in my OPE, a few quarts of ATF, and a few randoms. Ex- I topped off my neighbor with a quart of rotella 15w40, he gave me back a quart of PYB 10w-40. That type of randomness. I like having at least one OCI in filters and oil for each vehicle on hand, two is preferred. Basically because with four kids, I like to be able to do maintenance when I have time, and not waste said time running to the store. You aren't a hoarder if you bought it on sale with a plan to use it (that you execute). If you bought it BECAUSE it was on sale, and have no immediate use, like a random case of 20w-50 with nothing that uses 20w-50....that would be hoardish.

as you say, everything was bought with a purpose.

the 20w50 was bought for the boat, but i talked myself out of it and used 10w30 instead. so i've been using the 20w50 for top off in the 79 ford instead. takes a while to get through it when you don't drive it for a couple years.

all the 10w30 was bought for the older pickups and old tractor. never bought an HDEO (mystik) before be bought a better tractor, so i'll probably switch all the trucks and both tractors over to the mystik so i don't have to buy as many types of oil. as it is it will take me forever to get through the 10w30 i have.

oil filters is next. NAPA is having their filter sale so i have to go through my inventory and see what i need. Like you, i like to have at least 2 OCI's for everything. NAPA does their sale twice a year, but i usually miss one, so it's nice to have a year's worth. mostly so there is still one on the shelf when the sale is on so i don't have to have them look it up every time and i can just give them the number (some of them have been changed to different filters over the years with oil coolers and spin on adapters, ect)

i was just surprised that i have that much. but, with 12 engines to maintain it is best to have it when you need it.

low on 25-06 and 44-special for sure, but i wonder what else.
