Here is the deal, I have some left over oil, the generic Walmart brand SuperTech, 10w30, about 3-4 quarts and about 1 qt of Mobil 1 5w30 and 1 qt Mobil 1 5w20.

I need to change the oil in my 460 (7.5L) vehilce with 60K miles on the engine.
I've always put Chevron Delo 15w40 in it to prevent burning. It hasn't really worked, I think. Besides, I may want to go a lower weight for winter. I drive it little so I change it annually.

Question, is it OK to mix these types of oil?

It's an old truck (almost 20 years), not particularly valuable like a new one, but the engine has been replaced by PO and I like to keep it in nice shape.

Most oils today are compatible for mixing. The only issue with what you have is not knowing what the resultant viscosity will be. It's not a linear change either and can be difficult to determine with just mixing a couple of oils, you have a lot going on. I don't think you will have any issues with doing this.

You have six quarts. I would.........

Use three in the first interval - blending it with 15w40.

Use the other three quarts in the 2nd interval.
