Anything better than a CX5 out there, yet?

We'll see how it pans out. Shouldn't be hard for me, I live in the big city. Not many Tesla Superchargers in Phoenix (one is less than a mile from my house though) but there's other slower chargers. And I can charge at home. But I have other cars I can drive too.
Tesla has a good infrastructure, I just hate the short range PEV's have and it would cause me frustration. I want a single-vehicle-solution, hence the Rav Prime.

If I only had 1 car I never would have bought the Tesla. Probably a Camry Hybrid SE or Accord Hybrid.

I've been driving a lot lately (100+ miles a day) it should tame down though. My goal is to charge basically only at work for free. But the outlets there are only 30A which give me about 22 mph range, depending on the day that might be hard to recoup if I go out for lunch. I'll get it dialed down though.

This is why I went PHEV. No charging at work, and I drive a lot. It would cause me serious frustration.

I just can't make a pure PEV work for me. Range and infrastructure and convenience kill it. I have a friend who bought an Audi E-Tron, only to discover his entire state only has like 5 chargers that work with it. Talk about a buzz kill.
That's odd, are there no EA stations in your state? Because the e-tron has a standard plug, so it works anywhere there's EA (as well of course at the VAG dealers).

He lives somewhere near the E coast. I forgot the state. Maybe Mass? Either way, hes not pleased. Looks like W Mass doesnt have jack. Oof. Regardless, im nkt about adding hours to my road trips or stressing about it. I ak dure we have a network in my state, but we also have gas pumps and 5 min> 2 hrs. Also when it dips into the negwtives, I dont want some piddly 200mi range.

I just checked Plugshare, and while it isn't great, it isn't as bad as just looking at EA:

Life's short. Enjoy the ride.
Ride quality. Comfort. Reliability. There's a reason they maintain the value.
I bet ride quality will be better, but you know the Lexus is upgrading to the Toyota powertrain in my Prime on some of their higher end models, yes? They are also using the same TNGA-K platform on the new ES and NX models. I think a move to Lexus would give me better tech and nicer interior, but mechanically it would be inferior until the RX450h comes out with the same drivetrain as is already in my Prime, which will be in a year or so, I believe. Then it would be a bigger, heavier vehicle than what I need, so giving up performance and range and efficiency for nothing I care about (3rd row).

Well, Ive put 10k miles on the Prime, now. The power is good, mpg great, but overall fit and finish and power delivery trail the cx5. Mazda fixed a few things for 2022 (cold weather power loss, and folding mirror tsb). I also drive a bit less, now, so I'm going back to the cx5. Ive yet to find better, lol! I did drive a Stelvio. Snoozefest. Acura RDX briefly caught my attention, but they seem problematic.

Recently bought a CX-5 Signature to replace Mazda 6 that was totaled in an accident.

Fuel mileage is better in the 6, even with same 2.5 turbo engine. Interior room and ride quality was also better in the 6. Not surprising really. It's a shame the 6 was discontinued for 2022, but hopefully the replacement will come to North America.

But the CX-5 is easier to see out of while driving. I don't care that the CX-5 is AWD, but I know some require that. I also feel the CX-5 has a sportier driving feel, and I suspect that is because it is a smaller vehicle. X3M it is not, but its quite all right. The interior, much like the 6, has a quality feel to it that you don't see on Toyotas unless you move up to a Lexus.

The other half is happy as well, which means a lot.

It is a Toyota, what do you expect? They build "practical" appliances for the Average Joe with best-in-class parts availability, ease-of-service and post-warranty support.

Or the CX50 which is supposed to be available this spring.
Cx50 is like an econo cx5. No ty. Cx70 will likely be around 4300#, and power seems iffy based on predictions. Some sources are only saying 280bhp. It will also use cheaper parts from nontraditional suppliers to keep cost down. Hmmm.

nope. cx 50 will be above cx 5. but cx 5 will still be sold alongside cx50. cx 70 will be anything but cheap. and 280 hp will be the weakest model naturally aspirated. turbo models will be over 350 horses. but all this is only speculations. one thing is certain , it is not going to be cheaply made. none of current mazdas are cheaply made. mazda are going up. not down. in a couple years, the next 2 years are going to be very good for mazda. i am getting a turbo inline 6 cx 70 as soon as it is released. cx50 will be bigger and more expensive than cx-5. and it will tow more.

Cx50 is uust a cost cutter model like the new 3. Log out back. No thanks.

As to cx70, I dont know. Like you say, speculation, but the 335hp/380tq ford edge with an 8 speed isnt any quicker than a cx5, so theres that datapoint.
