Anything better than a CX5 out there, yet?

I like the price of the base CX-5, $45k+ up here for the turbo seems expensive. A Rav4 Prime is as fast and I don't have to buy as much gas while towing more... Outback XT is also as fast, cheaper, tows more too, and is lower so I could rallycross it once it gets old and ratty, and have less chance of ending up on the roof. I say the Outback XT wins!

I've looked for the RAV4 Prime, but none in my state yet, or surrounding areas. Everything I've read seems good except the driving dynamics are universally lauded as horrible. I'd like to drive one for myself though, because mpg really matters to me!

Not a Subaru fan.

Annoyingly, the only things higher performance are maintenance nightmares from Germany.
IDK, both my 2011 cars don’t rattle and BMW sees track. It does smell on rotten food bcs. daycare runs, but seats regardless look brand new. I mean, is there anything better out there? I am just so good...

I spoke to a service advisor friend of mine about the M40i. I considered it. Said they are nice and fun, but all the tech's joke that BMW's externally lubricate, and he said it would eat me alive in repairs over time. Since he's a service manager at a dealership that specializes in Euro vehicles, and he sees them day in and day out, his opinion weighs on me a bit. I could snag one for cheap, used. They go for around $35-40K. It's the ungodly repairs that scare me. Just the other week my neighbor's leaky X3 cost them $4K in repairs because it fried all its electronics via oil leak. It's a 2016. This is not uncommon. He said the Sq5 and GLC43 AMG would be a similar story. Super fun, hope you get lucky, keep $5-10K set aside if you don't. Just...not for me. I miss the 90's when you could buy hella fast vehicles that lasted 150K miles with no real issue.

Well my BMW costed me last 23k $37. Not sure what service advisor would say.

You should take an X3 for a test drive.

We have E90 BMW and Mazda 6. The Mazda is comfortable and has more room in the back seat, but the BMW is worlds better in driving.

So far in 10 years of ownership, the BMW has required belt tensioner, spark plugs, oil filter housing gasket, two sets of tires, and one battery cable recall. I did the non-recall work myself in short time, tires from Costco, and the dealer did the recall. Along with a trip through the machine wash that took a while to correct. Ugh.

I will say the we looked at CX5 and it was too small for our needs. The 6 has a bigger back seat. I think the 6 is equivalent to CX9 in size, and the Mazda 3 sedan and CX5 are similar sizes. Point of this is the bigger sedan (Mazda 6) is going to drive bigger, floatier, whatever compared to a smaller, sportier sedan or crossover/suv.

IDK, when I was last time passing Mazda dealership, I got Samsung fridge for garage (mainly to store beer). Works excellent. Not sure is there anything better out there?

I used to work in quality control for whirlpool. I got the inside scoop of alot of the manufacturers. Samsung's quality is a joke.Stay with Whirlpool, Kenmore,Maytag and your life will be easier. I'm not saying everything is perfect,as in all manufacturing there are defective units. But Samsung is not quality once you plug them in 😉

Are the Mazda service departments empty?

Well, I was under impression I have best fridge. Must lower my tone on neighborhood Facebook page.

Typically they are. I can walk in and get my vehicle serviced/new tires/an alignment/whatever while waiting. That's mostly what goes on there, just routine PM. I've seen some older Mazda's like the RX8's and some heavily used Miata's in for more extensive stuff though, but it's usually just 1 or 2 cars at any given time getting more than just basic same-morning stuff done. That's part of why I like Mazda. No service wait times to get an appointment.
