Anyone using Nitto Motivo or Toyo Proxes 4 yet?

If so, please let me know what you think. Considering them both for the 2010 Mazda 6. Thanks.

Sorry, I was referring to the 4 Plus, which I believe is a relatively new design. Both are UHP all season tires with above average mileage warranties.

I always had good service from Toyo Proxes tyres. Though I used T1r and T1s.

Incidently the T1r tyres were on a previous generation Ford Mondeo which is closely.related to the Mazda 6 and they suited it fairly well.

Very grippy even.in deep snow and lasted almost 40k miles with one rotation.

Is your T1R a different tire over there?

The one we get 'stateside' is an ultra high (or even MAX) performance SUMMER ONLY tire which I would not even dream of using in a 1/4" of the white stuff!!

Toyos are pretty expensive compared to the competition, in my experience. Are you getting a good deal on these?

I plan to purchase toward the end of this year and was already leaning heavily to the Nitto Motivos when I saw an ad for the Proxes 4 Plus. It looks like the tires are attempting to accomplish similar things. Just curious if anyone here was actually using either of them at this time. Thanks.

Winter tyres are not the norm in UK but some may consider it a summer tyre.

The tread pattern and relatively soft compound mean they are actually better than many tyres other than a proper winter tyre.

I fitted proper winter tyres to my Volvo for last winter and just put them back on, I must admit I found very little advantage in grip, certainly not worth the price IMOH, as they are about 25% more expensive than even an expensive Michelin Primacy HP.

Winters are not reall harsh enough around Essex and London where I drive, I have never got stuck at any time in my 25 yr driving career, that includes driving around my native Scotland years ago in heavy snow on country roads.

Nothing that driving skill and forward planning couldn't deal.with.

I installed the Motivos (215/45-17) on our Elantra Touring to replace the Kumho KH16. After about 400 miles I can say they are quieter, better riding (not so hard) and handle in the dry better. No rain or snow usage yet. I received a very good deal from our local Big O tire shop.

Nitto and Toyo are the same company, so I would guess that one tire's not going to be significantly better than the other, especially since they are in the same category.

If I were over there, I would have an Escort Cossie with high performance, V-rated winters on all four corners for that!

I ran two sets of Proxes 4's on my car. They were the best all season tire I have ever driven on.

Their one downside was they lost wet grip dramatically as they aged. But otherwise they were excellent. VERY competitively priced in 275/40/20 sizes for my car.

I'm sure the newer generation is substantially improved.
