My wife has terrible neuropathy in her feet and hands. I just ordered some red light therapy foot devices and will also probably try a device called the Rebuilder that uses electronic stimulation.

It seems all most doctors want to do is throw pain pills at it.

Anyway, have you tried RLT and for what?

I recommend this. THC therapy, get it in candies, cookies, gummy bears. or a Bong. ;)

Wife tried the microwave therapy from some massage place once. I was concerned and checked the gun they use and it was 900Mhz and about 100W. Basically, it is microwaving your muscle like you defrost your frozen chicken at low power. Not enough to cook you but nothing different than a heating blanket.

Look for the power rating, that's the most you are going to get and light don't pass through the skin too deep. It shouldn't cook you and it won't help too much.

Now Red Light District therapy...... that might work very well depending on the therapists.

My diabetic father tried the red LED devices that were supposed to help neuropathy. I'm not at all sure it helped in any way. I would have no way of knowing whether such devices have any benefit for any condition. But he was way too far gone for such minor measures.

"IF" I remember correctly, they were supposed to provide a warming effect, that allowed other cells to then utilize "energy" that was not being used for the heat of combustion, er, ah, metabolism.

Infrared, microwave, heating pad, etc all do that to a certain extend. The key is not to overheat you and not going into UV+ range. Gingseng, ginger, cinnamon, chicken soup (whole chicken broth, no frying or baking before boiling) etc may also improve blood circulation and help.

My daughter's right wrist gave her pain from pitching college softball and the red light therapy the training staff did on her worked wonders
The question I have is why are red light therapy devices hundreds or thousands of dollars when they are just 30+ 50 cent high output IR Diodes.

IR is an antique technique to help with pain but the prices for a few lights is really steep

Because... Medical devices, insurance companies, regulations and politics. That's all I am going to say on the matter so I don't get the ban hammer. 🔨

You can get the same wavelength needed, long and short IR, supposedly from the same heat lamps used at restaurants to keep rotisserie chickens warm. Of course be careful with this method but I bet it is much more potent than a $300 Hooga LED lamp.

I have a Hooga Health Pro 300 unit and you can put it onto you skin directly and it will take 10 minutes before it becomes uncomfortable. I don't think it's very potent compared to a $10 incandescent heat lamp.

Red Light therapy devices are in their infancy and not regulated so try the cheaper meth0d instead.

I've contemplated making a standing chamber with IR lights all around from floor to ceiling that would heat my entire body, like a sauna with the benefit of IR tissue pentation . I'll need to up my electrical and construction skills before I attempt this human rotisserie project though lol.

Edit: I just used an amp meter on my Hooga Lamp. In red light mode it draws 47 watts, 850NM IR mode it pulls 40 watts. A $10 IR lamp from HD will get you 250 watts. There are probably lower wattages out there.

Also, Try Alpha Lipoic Acid for neuropathy, some research out there shows it helps: https://www.mountsinai.org/health-library/supplement/alpha-lipoic-acid

I've noticed sitting in the warm sun can help with random joint pain and other things

Some people just need to go outside more

I'm also fairly young so i don't have to worry about this for another 70 years 😉

Only if you take care of yourself and win the genetic lottery. (speaking as someone in between your age and 70)
