I am trying to clean up my GTP a little. It feels a little dated inside.

I want a nice stereo but trying to keep this car on a budget. I already installed a Viper and an AVIC-Z in my truck. It all came out very nice but a top line AVIC runs a grand. I would rather keep the pontiac on the cheap. It's just being used as a work vehicle anyways.

I have read online that with a little opening up of the dash a Double din will fit.

Anyone try an EBay double din with all the features. I am gonna hit the junk yard and look for a dash to tinker with this weekend.

What I am looking for

The GTP.

I put a Kenwood DPX500BT in my last car with 6 kicker speakers and it was a great upgrade to a [censored] car. Only had the whole setup for a few months before I ended up trading the car in. But the system was fantastic, the bluetooth worked great with both iPhone 4 & 5.

If you plan to keep the car, save money for new stero.
You can find great stuff on Ebay or Craigslist used, but if it dies in a month your SOL.

Buy a new cheap unit from a store. Look around and wait for a sale to come up. Sony steros go for 60-70 for their low end models if you look around. I'd take that over ANYTHING all day.

Try finding one not made in china.

I asked if anyone tried one out. Looking for peoples reviews.

for around 100$ I could buy 10 of these for the price of the AVIC in my truck.

Don't you have a smart phone that does everything already? Get a good sounding simple brand name deck with bluetooth and live happily ever after. That's what I would do, but its your car, time and money...

Kenwood KMM-100U, about 70 bucks, has decent sound, and will play FLAC compressed files off USB. FLAC=smaller than WAV but no quality loss. Simple, effective radio+media deck. No Bluetooth but that loses sound quality anyway. Line in and USB in for the win.

I would avoid cheap double dins with big screens from no name companies. Just going to break or be buggy eventually.

I bought a Pioneer X4500 BT for 199 on ebay (new rerun). Feature rich double din that I have been extra muy pleased with. If you have an iPhone, you can use the advanced app mode. I like being able to use DashCommand and my OBD II code reader to look at gauges and log performance statistics.
