The new Google desktop search is great! Scary good though. If you don't want someone seeing stuff you've said in email or sites you've visited you might want to doublethink installing it.
I'm a pretty good boy so I don't have to worry about my wife catching me doing anything on the PC I shouldn't. I went into an obscure 5 year old email and found a term then went to the search and typed it in. Found that old email in a split second. I don't know how such a small program can index so many files. I have 1000's of old emails. It will index word, excel, text files (I think), email, and it will index your Internet Explorer cache & history files. I was able to search on "5w30" and found cached BITOG pages I've visited. I turned off the indexing of secure websites and instant messaging programs. My only gripe is it didn't index my wife's account or make the program available on her sign-on. I have Win XP and I have a sign-on for me and one for her so we can keep our email separate and our Internet. She visists baby and gardening boards and I visit oil and car boards.
