I stepped through the survey on the main page (the new advertising banner). Although I wasn't impressed with the misspelled words on it (whoever wrote it needs to use spellcheck) I thought it was interesting. Makes me wonder what the information is used for.

it looks like the questions were written by someone who monitors the site often. questions like "what determines your choice of oil? brand? mechanic advice? advertising? all the stuff we see here I see repeated in the answer choices. I want an oil specifically designed for my engine

I don't answer surveys where the want an income specified, and especially with my email!! That's crazy.

I agree, what is this used for? Who is sponsoring this survey?

I agree with Pablo's privacy concerns, but I'm always a sucker for a chance at a free gift. I'm SURE I can find a good way to spend $50 at Sears. Besides, the e-mail I give out to these places is disposable, anyway. I have that account specifically for sites that I have to give my e-mail to and there's a chance I might want to see what they send me. I have another for when I have to give out my e-mail and there's no chance in **** I'll want to read what they send.

Good idea. I have a yahoo account that I use for that very purpose. I check it maybe once a month or so and usually wipe out everything that's there.

I put in a fake address, but I was unable to answer #17 since I use both synthetic and conventional, depending on season. So I stopped there!

Income....over $1,000,000
email address.....put mine, I don't have a filter so I don't miss anything. Send all the spam you want.
I always ask for GARGOYLE motor oil, haven't seen it though since those glass bulk oil bottles disappeared in '59.....$0.27/qt.
Who recommended it ??...Pablo, of course.
P.B. (always tellin' the truth)

PB, I can not answer your question honestly, because I did not ask that question. But they do ask what country you are from on the survey, so I would say yes based on that.

Good questions for me to ask next time. This is a super reputable company, so I am not worried. They have been very up front with me.

Give it a little more time and you'll start to get a trickle of spam. I too have a Gmail account, and really only use it to communicate with a few friends. I've started to get a few pieces of spam per week, all of it in my spam folder. Still, it's much, much better than my Hotmail account where the rest of my spam piles up and dwarfs the actual legitimate e-mail.
