Anyone Recommend Installing An Air Filter Minder

I'm thinking of installing an air filter minder on my 2023 Tacoma. Has anyone here done so? Looking answer from those of you who recommend doing it or not.Thanks.
 
does your vehicle have in the onboard computer under maintenance (other)? my wife's nissan does this would be a place where i would set a mileage interval i would want to check my air filter at or any other maintenance besides oil/filter and tires.
 
I assume you're referring to the type which is a vacuum gauge which tracks the intake vacuum level?

Yes; I use the Wix one on my 2018 F250 6.2L truck.
Far better to "know" when restriction is getting close, rather than just guessing.
Hint: most air filters are changed WAY too early

Read up on air filter minders. The point is to run the filter for as long as possible, until it creates too much restriction, because air filters generally gain efficiency as they load up. Also, the less you open the airbox, the lower the chance to potentially allow dust/contaminants into the intake.

A filter (unless it is damaged in service) is at its lowest efficiency when it is new.

I installed one on my 2025 Frontier at about 4k miles. Mine has a range of 8-25in/h2o. I kept the factory filter in, and it barely moved off of the 8in/h2o after a WOT pull at that time. Did a WOT pull a few days ago with 22k mi on the clock and it still barely moves off of the 8in/h2o mark. I’m not sure when I’ll change it. I’ve heard initial restriction +10in/h2o, but I’m not sure how accurate that is.

Recently, I used my borescope through the opening of the intake to look at the filter and it looks amazing clean on the “dirty” side. I might be waiting a while for the gauge to move.

Mine didn’t have a threaded location for one, so I had to drill a hole in the airbox and get some npt threaded pieces that I cobbled together to mount securely. Worked out great and it’s as solid as can be.

This is after a WOT run when I first installed it. If I reset it, the yellow plunger moves back to the very bottom.

I open mine every oil change or else I'd probably be driving around with a filter that has ripped foam.

I run air filters out 30,000^ miles ill check the air box/filter once a year or every other oil change not necessarily to monitor how loaded up the filter is but to make sure no rodents moved in. I'll take my chances opening the air box and vacuuming it out over a mouse or chipmunk that has shredded through the filter for nesting material.
 
Unless you routinely drive on very dusty roads, following others doing same, I doubt this will be useful. If you're set to have another item to check under the hood, go for it, just don't expect too much.
 
Okay. I went ahead and installed a K&N filter minder on my 2023 Tacoma 3.5L last week. An initial WOT pushed it to 75% and I reset it after the run. I has moved a bit since then, my guess is that it will work fine.
 
This model is 10 in H20 part number 85-2445. Pretty sure the 75% WOT reading would be 7.5 in H20.
That’s probably not going to be able to read a high enough restriction. My Frontier pulls 8in/h2o on a new filter. I plan to change at 15-18in/h2o.

I initially had the same one you did. Almost bottomed it out on a clean filter, so I tossed it and got this one.

Thanks for the information. I'll give mine a run and see how it does.
 
Also, I have read that the Tacoma's naturally aspirated engine needs the lower range version of a filter minder. We'll see.
