Anyone purchased a good garden hose lately?

I have an Ely in the back. It was much cheaper when we bought it....

In the front I have the last of 3 Goodyear hoses I bought decades ago. The other two failed, so I have some cheap thing behind the last one I bought which I am sure both will fail soon enough. I maybe will check out zero G at that point.
Sigh I just noticed it’s what my neighbor has (ok so what—well she doesn’t work 😂 and that’s my pet peeve in life right now). I just ordered this and when it breaks maybe I can get an Ely….I do think it can last 2 seasons. I made the mistake of going to the flexible hoses. They cannot be used for spraying the cars as not enough pressure. I plan to go back to the normal hose.

I have been eyeing the dramm hose as it looks pretty good.
I will say drawing a hose off a reel does seem to make the hose much less likely to kink. Might just see how mine works out before spending cash money on a new hose.

We buy Flexzilla hoses. Great quality. We have had one for about 7 years and the other about 5 years and both are still working great. And usually they get left outside.

I just got two new eley hose reels for my front and back yards. These are expensive but they seem very well made. I've been wanting a new hose for my front yard. The one I have kinks just from looking at it. I would order the eley one if it's truly worth it but it's hard to stomach $270 for a 125' hose. Which hose do you guys prefer ?
I found a made in the usa garden hose at Walmart a couple of years ago. They were labeled basic, intermediate and premium. I went with the premium for $50 ish if i remember correctly.

Now that I got the new reel ($30) at Lowe’s, I’ll likely see what Costco is selling, knowing no problem if it fails…

I bought some chicken wire for the garden yesterday. Feels like price has doubled since 6 years ago…

Another thing with the Eley hoses is we keep an old towel draped on top of them when not in use. The sun destroys all rubber and plastics here. The towels seem to help.

I have a Flexzilla one. It feels pretty heavy duty but I don't have those hose carts so it's a PITA to roll in/out and kinks almost as much as a normal hose because so. Gonna try a zero g one.

I happened to be at HD today, and took a look at the Conti and Good Year rubber hoses.

One of the things I've liked most about the Craftsman/Dramm hoses is that they are very pliable, and in that respect, they're softer that those two.

Although that may make them more vulnerable to kinks, I'd rather fight kinks than a stiff, inflexible hose that fights me back, like an average vinyl hose that stiffens and gets worse with age.

The Dramm also has nickel-plated brass fittings, which are also less likely to corrode. They're also very compact; those large strain reliefs on some hoses might be fine with a hose bib, but less than optimal on the inside of a reel. Gorilla warns against using hoses with aluminum fittings with their hose reels, and recommends their extension/adapter piece to prevent galvanic corrosion.

No experience with Flexzilla or Zero-G, but will have to check them out when the chance arises.

I took advantage of the Walmart rollback on the Gorilla reels last month, but have yet to assemble it. Would like an Eley, but can't justify the cost for my usage, with the disposable plastic stuff Suncast makes at the other end of the spectrum. Have been trying to find the elusive middle ground and hope that the Gorilla meets it.
