Anyone purchased a good garden hose lately?

I just got two new eley hose reels for my front and back yards. These are expensive but they seem very well made. I've been wanting a new hose for my front yard. The one I have kinks just from looking at it. I would order the eley one if it's truly worth it but it's hard to stomach $270 for a 125' hose. Which hose do you guys prefer ?

I have 2 sears craftsman black hoses they last pretty good.. but very heavy and being rubber dont slide well.
100ft is quite unwieldy.

I have a lighter zero g style I use for bug spraying and other annoying tasks where a light hose makes it easier. (spraying out gutters too)

Got this one a few months back - liked it enough to get another from TSC yesterday …

As far as coiling it in colder weather---Flexzilla. The only hose I've had that I can coil at 40F without getting aggravated. Good for us further north, I cant speak if it's the best choice in Texas.

Not lately, as the real rubber Continental ones I bought at Home Deep in Debt 5 years ago are still performing basically like new. 2-3/4"x100 footers @ $75 each. Won't need anything else for a while.

I have one also and yes there heavy . Probably better to get two fifty footers rather than a hundred

I bit the bullet on a 100' Eley last year. I think it was about $170, was tired of other manufacturer's hoses either being kink-prone, heavy, too stiff in cooler weather, having crappy fittings, etc. It does live up to the hype in terms of apparent quality, made in USA, relatively lightweight, kink resistant, just all around quite excellent. I'll let you know in 9 years if it made it through the warranty period lol.

I also got a 75' Flexzilla for the front yard this spring, it was about $70. Seems good. We'll see.

Another fan of zero g, they just coil up like a soft and flexible rope, no fighting it or getting hard/unmanageable in the cold. I keep one in my RV.

Congrats on the Eley reels, those are incredible

Cannot say enough good things about Flexzilla - absolutely love mine and couldn't believe how kink-free it was when I first used it. I also have a Dramm ColorStorm rubber hose and while it works okay, the Flexzilla is much better and lighter.

I've had three of the Craftsman black rubber hoses for a few years, and anticipate they'll serve for many more years to come, like the ones they replaced that were probably 30 years old.

What remains of Sears/Craftsman now sells a different hose, but the old ones are still available under different branding, Briggs and Stratton, or from the original manufacturer, Dramm.

I bought the most expensive garden hose back in 2010 and still using it. Don't know what the brand is but the reason I bought it is USA made and super strength quality. It's always been outside 24/7 under the Texas summer heat and wintery cold. No sign of hardening, still soft (when pressed). Could still could last 10 years and more.

Yep, spend the money for higher quality and it lasts a long time.

I looked up the hose reel with wheels….is there any alternative as the price is a bit high for me ($280+). But I do know the cheaper ones from Lowe’s don’t last…

Or is it spend the money and never need another?

I have an Ely in the back. It was much cheaper when we bought it....

In the front I have the last of 3 Goodyear hoses I bought decades ago. The other two failed, so I have some cheap thing behind the last one I bought which I am sure both will fail soon enough. I maybe will check out zero G at that point.
