I took these pictures with my iPhone of the sunset on a recent trip, and a few of my pictures had this green dot. Others came out perfectly. Can anyone tell me what caused this or what I did wrong? The location of the dot varies. Thanks.

Lens flare. some people think its spirit orbs and such. Its and internal reflection of the lens elements. Also sometimes there can be very small debris in between the elements , and in older camera lenses , even fungus on/between the elements. On some old camera lens combos you can even count the aperature blades that give a hexagon or octagon shaped image.

You will see them more when there is a bright point light source. Some times the source is not necessarily in the image frame.

From the old Kung Fu intro where it was used on purpose.

Its green probably do to chromatic aberration as well. As the light bends, the wavelengths focus at different points.

Demarpaint, I'm much more curious as to what the heck you are riding on? Looks like a lot of turbulence behind you.

LOL I'm sticking with Nessie blowing bubbles after 1,092 feet of Aircraft Carrier passed over her.

I don't know whet it is called but I know when you take a shot with camera, you want to aim away of the Sun vs toward it

I know. I was trying to get the sunset, and where I could position myself was limited.
