Anyone an expert on Early VW CIS Fuel Injection setup?
I have an '89 VW Cabriolet that has low miles and has passed the Smog test a 2 years back (10K KM ago) with flying colours.
Since then the Fuel Plate and Idle Air Screw were changed accidently trying to cure another problem which turned out to be bad wires.
I took it for a SMOG test yesterday and it failed during the 40KM/Hr test with high NOX and HC (0 on the CO) Then at Idle the CO was 7 times what it should be the HC were about 2 times what they should be.
The Timing is 1 Degree retarded from where the Factory calls for.
So my question is, how do I properly setup the Fuel Plate and Idle Air Screw at the back of the Throttle Body?
Thanks,
Steve
