Sure enough the results came back as Castrol and it was a very high quality oil. I had to call Blackstone and let them know that it was a store brand oil from Strauss. All they could say was that "I really fell into a great deal"!!

After my conversation with Blackstone, I loaded up and bought all the full synthetic that they had on clearance.

BTW....You can take a look at the VOA that was posted on the board for Strauss Full Synthetic.

Yeah, no such luck in the lower 48.

I've yet to use any of it, but it will likely go in the oil-swilling Impreza.
I know from your posts that your 3.0 Aero swills oil and has a rough idle.
Our '97 3.0 Aero never needed any added oil during an OCI and ran great up until thirteen years of use and 176K, when our younger son totaled it.
He was fine, and the van still ran and drove, but was done.
The Aerostar was a really great van, compared to most FWD 'nineties minivans.
It also cost all of 14.7K brand new in September 1997.

Yeah, I didnt mind the Aerostar vans. I didnt know your Imprezza uses oil FCDG27.

Too bad I dont have a meijer in PA

WPP/WNE is a "privately owned manufacturer, marketer and distributor of automotive aftermarket products" and make their own brand under the MAG1 name. They also have the Accel and

I've got a bunch of Ace Hardware brand oil in the garage that I picked up on sale. Our Saturn thinks it's a two stroke, so whenever I find oil on sale for cheap I pick up a case or two. Don't really care what brand it is as long as it has API certification.

I guess it's now the lower 47 then.

LOL, saw "Canada" in his post and never looked at the location...

If only we could be so lucky as to be able to get rid of NY, CA and a few others...

My understanding is that O'Reilly, AZ, AAP, Walmart and NAPA brand are all decent motor oils. There were links to VOAs of conventional versions posted in the past. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about their synthetic oils.

AAP appears to get their oil from either Valvoline or Castrol, as it has a sodium add pack and I'm not aware of Warren using sodium in any of their oils.

I used O'Reilly for several years when it was Coastal and was completely satisfied with it.

Sorry, I was commenting on Advance's store brand oil you were referring to Autozone I have no idea on Autozone if it says Warren I believe you. Sorry I jumped rails on you.

No, I apologize as when I went to autozone to get a part to help a friend with his truck, I looked at a qt and 5.1 qt jug, both had WNE on bottom. Advance Auto jugs are same shape in PA as ST oil jugs are in PA area. I think someone did a voa on conventional ST and it had 200-300 sodium, maybe I am wrong KCJeep

take care,

adam
