I talk to my friend that works at a large fleet of trucks cars and vans. He said they use a synthetic blend 15w-40 in everything. Has not had any issues and vehicles sit outdoors some. Anyone here use a 15w-40 in their gas car or truck or van?
I have thought about it. Do you know what he uses - a lot of the 15W-40's have dropped all their gasoline certifications.I talk to my friend that works at a large fleet of trucks cars and vans. Dunno about the 0w-20 as member HOHN uses it in 2 modern vehicles and he’s in Indiana so it gets somewhat coodYep, have run 15w40 in gassers plenty. Bunch of small block Chevys, a small block Ford, and even my 08 Subaru. A pile of small engines. Forklift at work.
Never an issue, but never ran it in something modern that specs 0w20. Would do more research before doing so.
Depending on winter temp and with the oil options available these days, I'd probably run a 0w40 or 5w40 as an all fleet oil instead.

Like I said, more research first. Cst at temp for specific oils I'm considering, what oil does the engine spec in other countries, what have people been doing here successfully, etc.Dunno about the 0w-20 as member HOHN uses it in 2 modern vehicles and he’s in Indiana so it gets somewhat cood

I ran a lot of 15W-40 in warmer months in my EJ-powered Subarus and mowers. If it gets real cold where you're at 5W or 0W-40 might be better in winter.I talk to my friend that works at a large fleet of trucks cars and vans.
