A friends 18 year old daughter has a 2010 mustang and one of the wheels came off causing them to lose control and have an accident they said it was the rear one...They believe it was the axle but i dont know i did not see it.. Did anyone hear anything about an axle problem?

You would have to fail multiple parts on a vehicle with discs to have an axle pull out. You would have to lose the c-clip and the caliper bracket. Far more likely they had tire work done and someone forgot to tighten the wheel properly.

We are blaming the car when the situation starts with an 18yo girl in a mustang?

Are we sure we know the history of what the car has been through?

im pretty sure i know the history car has 1931 miles on it and it just happened last nite i dont know all the details but she was ok...Im wondering if the lug nuts were tight or someone loosened them???

My uncle had somebody loosen the lugs on his Tundra. He didn't get in an accident, but the rim was screwed. As somebody already pointed out, with a rear disk setup, in order for the axle to come out, there would have to be multiple points of failure.

A team of salvating Lawyers.. Believe it or not some people dont sue for anything and even if he does
this happened a very short time ago..

actually if the axle did come out it could be one bolt at fault depending on the design..
They are saying the axle i did not see it yet who knows the real story..

The C-clip would have to fail, which holds the axle in the carrier. Then the brake caliper bolts would have to fail to allow the rotor to move away from the housing.......

yup...
or the axle just broke.. they had that problem with the windstar i believe...

it could have also failed at the lugs but dont seem likely...I am going by what he says and he is going by what the kid says and who knows...

If the axle sheared off near the hub flange, I imagine the axle and wheel would come off and the the brake caliper would not be able to stop it. It seems highly unlikely that the axle would shear like that though.

The Windstar is FWD, the Mustang is RWD. Very different setups. The Mustang would likely have the 8.8" diff, which isn't common for breaking unless you are making 500HP and trying to put it down through a set of slicks. And then you just upgrade the axles.

Local punks loosened all of the lugs on my gf's car a few months back. Luckily she was recognized there was a problem and took it to her mechanic.

With out pictures of an actual account of things, there's no way we can guess what happened. When they say the axle failed, what does that mean? Maybe she slid into a curb, hit the axle with a boulder or drove the car with two lugs nuts.

More details, please!

OP-- you state "...who knows the real story ..".exactly. everyone is just guessing. more details, man.you/ your buddy could do a search for t.s.b.'s/ recall possibilities.
