Anyone have the iPhone 5C?

Here is a summary of the difference that I know of:

4S: you know it, the bread and butter that has glass and stainless steel body, HSPA / EVDO baseband (so call 4G in the US).

5: LTE baseband, faster processor than 4S, longer HD screen, slightly lighter and thinner, anodize aluminum shell that is easier to scratch but thinner and lighter.

5C: same as 5 except a plastic shell, same price (but they discontinued the 5 so you are forced to buy a 5C).

5S: faster processor than 5, a sturdier metal shell (I think it is either a stronger anodize aluminum or a "liquid metal" (zirconium alloy) coating, finger print sensor, a champagne color option.

The baseband is the same between 5/5C/5S

The iPhones are nice. However, I can tell which guys at work have the iPhone 5 - they always carry a power cord or they have the case with the extra battery built in. A few of them upgraded from the 4S to the 5 and all hate the battery life. Some of our trucks have no power ports, so battery life is a big concern for us when choosing phones. I have heard more than once that "this will be my last Apple phone".

We traded our 4s's in right before Christmas, got 5s's for less then $20.00 each (but I don't know how no-contract might play in).

My 4s was on iOS7.0.4 and I charged it every night with my usage, the new 5s is also on iOS7.0.4 and I can charge it every other night with my usage.

It is FAST when you are working on it and I like the fingerprint unlock. My wife loves the camera on hers.

They also come with iLife and iWork which you may find useful (they are pretty large apps so I ended up not installing the ones I won't use) and the apps are also now available on my iPad Mini which was purchased well before the apps became "free" with a new device.

Here is a compare:

Note the 64bit A7 over the (32bit)A6 processor and the use of a separate motion processor.

Thanks for the feedback

My boss is on his 3rd iPhone 5 this year, he swears it's a great phone. Never had ANY of my android phones needed to be replaced. Look at the ubuntu phones coming out on a few months. They'll far surpass anything Apple can offer at a much lower cost.

They don't know the tricks to make the battery last. See my post above.

One of the big reason 5 is more power hungry is because of LTE. If you compare to another LTE phone of the same battery size it is pretty good.

My 3G flip phone get 10x the battery life of any smart phone too, but is that a fair comparison?

My wife has had a 5S since about 3 months ago and it's really a very nice piece of hardware. The 64-bit A7 SOC is quite speedy, and the exterior hardware quality is quite nice. I'm using a 4S and will likely upgrade to the iPhone 6 when it comes out later this year.

Small phone, small battery. People need to remember the iPhone's battery size is much smaller than anything you see in current android devices.

At this point in the game I find stock Android 4.4 to deliver better battery life than iOS 7 (phones, tabs are a different story).

iPhone battery life is still pretty solid, and it still charges quicker than any phone I've used.

I'd drop the extra $100 for the 5S, but the 5 still runs well.
