I have someone mentioned about it on this forum. So, take a look at it website www.scangauge.com.

I'm interested to install it for my 97 corolla, so I can monitor my RPM (no tachometer in my car), MPG, Coolant temp, battery voltage, and it also has scan OBD error code.

Just want to see anyone has experience about this product especially the accuracy or potential mess up with ECM.

Thanks in advance

I have a Scangauge first edition, works great. It some times will mess with my clock when I pull it out to use in another car. Normally I leave it in my truck. I assume the accuracy is OK, the MPG I checked and compared with the old fashioned way and it seemed correct. The speedo and miles driven readout I checked with roadside markers and it seems right.

I have the scanguage II, I love it. No problems to report.

The accuracy is adjustable, i.e. you can correct your speed/distance for different tire sizes and after the first full tank of gas you can correct the mpg.

I have mine in my 99 Toyota and have also used it in my wife's 04 Accord. It works in any OBDII vehicle (96 and up).

LOVE IT!
I have it set to
>RPMAir Intake Temp >MpgWater temp
It has tons of features.

If your going to buy one try to find a group buy from a forum. I bought for $130 shipped...

I could not pass that up.

Thank for your input. I'll think I'm going to get one.

I have 05 accord. Where is the OBDII connection in the cabin?

I've got one.

I've used it on alot of cars/trucks and get accurate readings of watertemps and other readings.

It just cracks me up reading threads that this type of oil makes my engine run cooler.

I have never seen a OEM guage that had any movement over 10-15 degrees reading out on the scan guage.

The worst one so far is my Uncles PT Cruiser. The temp needle stays in one place but the scan guage shows temps from 175 to 210 degrees.

Nice unit! I'd buy another one.

I had an SG-I and upgraded to an SG-II.

Sounds like it can replace the need for aftermarket water/oil temp and oil pressure gauges. I'll have to look into one for my next car.

it monitors water temp but not oil temp/pressure (wish it did though)...

from the weblink:

Display 4 gauges at a time from the 12 built-in digital gauges. the information is presented in Real-time!

* Fuel Economy
* Fuel Rate
* Battery Voltage
* Coolant Temperature
* Intake Air Temperature
* Engine Speed (RPM)
* Vehicle speed (MPH)
* Manifold Pressure (not available on some vehicles)
* Engine Load
* Throttle Position
* Ignition Timing
* Open/Closed Loop

I have the Scangauge I and Scangauge II. They help me drive more efficiently by far saving me 5+MPG. I never got above 30mpg before I bought one of these things (due to bad driving habits) - now I can get up to 40mpg if I try really hard.

Far as accuracy - the MPG is right on and the miles till empty has been incredibly accurate for me (I drive 220 miles everyday to/from work).

My setup:

Intake Temp----Engine LOD
Engine Temp----MPG

I base all my driving off of the engine load %. Try to keep that as low as possible and amazing the MPG you get

.

I'd recommend it to anyone who wants better MPG and wants to learn how to drive more efficiently.

The few cars that provide engine oil temp/pressure through the OBD-II diagnostic port use a manufacturer specific PID (parameter ID).

Ditto for transmission fluid temperature.

Unfortunately, the Scanguage does not support manufacturer specific PIDs. I wish it did, or at least allowed you to configure them if you know what they are. (Typically it's an 8-bit value with a formula used to convert the value to the actual real world number).

I wonder if it would be worth it to contact the SG guy and ask him if he could reprogram an SG to read any specific vehicle PIDs your car may have?

I think I'm going to break down and install an oil temp sender/gauge during my next oil change. All of a sudden I have this unquenchable desire to see a realtime digital readout of my oil temp

Maybe, if he knows what they are. I've found the information for GM vehicles but not Saab. I believe also that I've found it for Ford vehicles but it's been a while since I looked (I no longer own any OBD-II Ford vehicles).

love my SC-1, after having it over a year I still look at it frequently...course I am a gear head so I have no choice.

I need to order the SC-2 for my other car.

Looks like a neat tool. I currently have an older Actron OBD-II DTC code readout tool. It can't perform any trend analysis nor can it monitor functions in realtime. It's simply a "code reader". And it's not CAN compatible but luckily my current Civic and Taurus use older OBD-II protocols. So sooner or later I'll have to upgrade to a newer unit. I'll definitely keep this scangauge in mind.

Lindermant - My solution for monitoring RPM in a Civic VP is a little more low tech.

The right side will eventually get an oil pressure gauge.
