Anyone Excited about iPhone 17

I suspect phone plans that supply so called free phones are much different in Canada than the USA regarding ATT, Verizon and TMobile

Though in Canada they still have contracts if you get a phone from the provider?
As Patman said we don't really have the "free" phones here anymore but yes they still incentivize contracts(usually 2 years) by giving you $200-300 off the phone is you sign a contract. By you really have to do the numbers because sometimes the BYOD plans are cheaper by a margin that works out cheaper if you just buy the phone at full price.

Excellent. For the record here in the states my wife and I always buy our own phones and use services like US Mobile or Red Pocket which you get to pick/piggy back on the 3 major providers anyway.

Only one time since around 2007 did we take a "free" phone and that was because it was an amazing two year deal with T-Mobile where if we bought the phones ourselves it would have cost us $1000 more over those two years. Once that was done, we quit T-Mobile and back to US Mobile. Just traded in that older TMobile iPhone 13 at the Apple Store and got a new iPhone 15Plus. Apple gave me $250 towards the iPhone which was already marked down $100 plus dollars being it was a model year later with the Iphone 16s out at the time.

Contracts haven’t gone away I’m on an installment plan when my wife upgraded my XR to a 16. Phone is carrier locked and if I take my number to another carrier I got to make good for the remainder balance. Bill credits my 🫏. Big mistake going on big carrier network

Oh yes, I hear you on that!
Phones are locked in the USA, but the person posting was from Canada and he stated the companies are not allowed to lock phones there anymore.

I don’t like the looks of the 17. I bought a 16 plus last year. I find it works just right for my usage. Also have the Iwatch 9.

I have a 14 pro max and I wish it were a little smaller not bigger..otherwise I would probably take one of the trade offers as mine is paid for.

I have the 15plus that I bought this year.
I get what you are saying about the pro models looking different and the Air

However the iPhone 17 and iPhone 16 look the same. The 17 size is .2 larger at 6.3"
You cant get the "plus" model anymore so the screen size of our phones is the largest out of all the new iPhone 17 offerings except the iPhone Pro Max which is .2 larger at 6.9 inches instead of our 6.7 inches.
All the other iPhone 17s are 6.3 inches.

Anyway except for the air and pro models the 17's look the same as last year. I do admit though. I like the new look of the Pro models.
I am tired of the same old look. I will say though I would like a Pro Model and disappointed that I would have to settle for the 6.3 screen or go up to the 6.9 screen.

This is the standard 16 and 17

lol I use my phone all day and yet I don’t feel compelled to upgrade. I did just upgrade from a 13 to a 16 Pro because I got it for $500 on brand new condition.

Yes, I think I am max'ed out with the plus screen at 6.7" The Max you have is the same size at 6.7
The new max is even larger at 6.9.
I think that would push me in the direction of the standard Pro. I really like the 6.7 15plus display but I dont think I would want larger, would .2 make a difference? I dont know but I wouldnt spend the extra money to find out.

Is Amazon where one can buy these, or eBay? I will soon need to buy a newer iPhone as mine is getting tired.

I don’t know, I bought my 16 Pro from my boyfriend. It was just a few months old then it got stolen and so he got a new phone then got his stolen one back so I bought the 16 Pro for what Gazelle was going to give for it. It still has 100% battery life and a new screen under warranty and apple care+ for another year lol so I couldn’t pass up the deal. Now I’m selling my 13 to Gazelle because they offered $200 and it was about the same as what I’d get on eBay if you subtract fees and shipping so way less work! And don’t get me started on trying to sell on Facebook Marketplace, so many idiots there.

I prefer direct from Apple for the warranty. But ... you never know, I haven't gone any other route.

Used phones can be OK, or not. I used to buy a lot of used phones on eBay and sometimes they'd seem to work OK initially but they'd end up with some strange intermittent issues within a few weeks. On the other hand, I bought my mom a used iPhone SE 3rd gen like a year ago and it's been flawless.

All that said, I'd probably recommend a new phone in most cases.

ok today my wife needed a new screen saver for her IPhone 14...we were headed to Costco and the Verizon store is right next to Costco...we stopped in and for the heck of it I asked what would it cost me to upgrade from my Iphone 14 pro max...she plugged in my phone number and said wow you have some major incentives....without a trade you will be at $349 for a 17 pro max with 256 storage...I asked what else do I have to sign up for and she said nothing..she said you have some crazy incentives because you have been with Verizon since day one...she said according to your account you are an original Verizon customer she said we have been with Verizon since 2020 (my wife signed up thru her work way back when). in the last 25 years I have never really upgraded except 3 years ago when I got my IPhone 14...my wife has a few times but not many either...She asked what she could do and her deal was very similar. both are phones are paid off and we did not need to trade them in...They actually offered my wife $300 for hers on the spot but she is going ask one of our daughters if they need it instead..they had a 17 pro she was able to get right then they said I had to wait until the oct 17th or so for a 17 pro max to be shipped. She did say they have been coming quicker than that tho...I was going to get a new battery anyway as mine is down to 77% and that would have been $109 so realistically I am in it for not much..ultimately I am sure I paid for it over the years paying Verizon rates but they have never let us down...

Great story and since you are so happy with them there is certainly nothing wrong with taking the phones. You are paying for them in the rate you pay and that is why Verizon wants to keep it that way.
Im not discrediting what anyone chooses to do, just to be clear.

oilBabe has been enjoying her 17 Pro Max for the past week.

I don't regret getting her the new phone.

Her mom is also excited to get oilBabe's 15 Pro Max when she visits next month.

My 17 pro max arrived a week early....seems pretty nice...being tech challenged I might use 10% of its capability lol....
