Agreed. FF 8 is just atrocious at this point.

The only thing I use it for anymore is downloading larger files (over 5MB) since the DownloadThemAll extension is very quick compared to the built in downloader in FF and other browsers.

+1....I moved to Chrome a few weeks ago...and couldn't be happier. IMO....Chrome is top notch.

First thing I do on a new Firefox install is AdBlock Plus extention. It is also available for Chrome, but still needs some work.
Annoyance-free browsing, no form-a-funnel ads of any sort.

This is also true, always my first extension to install on Chrome and Firefox.

Yup.
browser.search.openintab set to true causes the search box to open the search in a new tab. One of my biggest annoyances before I found that little button was overwriting whatever I was looking at.
Why you would disable cache is baffling to me. How would that be faster? Making it reload the page from scratch? Seems a bit backward.
nglayout.initialpaint.delay I dont know what the default is, but I have it set to 50. It is the time FF waits in milliseconds to begin drawing the page. Longer times will allow more of the page to load before it makes the initial draw. Shorter will allow less.

Maybe I'm not doing something right, but I installed a Google Chrome, and I just don't feel comfy with it. Can't save bookmarks easily, or maybe I'm too slow to learn it. I didn't get it to set up as a Yahoo homepage and it just didn't set up as a Firefox Layout.

That's my major complaint about Chrome. I don't care for the way they chose to handle access to bookmarks in it nor its built in bookmarks manager.

I like firefox .. cant live without adblock plus either.

soooo many ads I havent seen for years.
