Anyone cut their own hair?

I have @Zee09 cut mine. The way he insists on running his fingers through it first makes me a little nervous, but it turns out great and he doesn't charge anything. Cheap is as cheap does.

I'm really curious what "style" people have that are cutting their own hair. If you're just giving yourself a buzz cut or shaving bald, sure.... Even if you use clippers and 1-2 different length guards, I can't imagine how well anyone can do by themselves. Or, they don't care what their hair looks like !

Only once, and that was during COVID out of desperation. I used a battery-powered personal groomer that really struggled even with my fine hair. My fear was that it would crap out halfway through, but it got all the way done without melting down. It actually came out pretty good with only some minor cleanup needed. It worked in a pinch but never again.

I rather enjoy the salon experience so a haircut and shampoo every eight weeks or so is like my own little spa day. Expensive but worth it.

Does shaving one’s head count? I have a high maintenance hair son, and I can’t stand to see the charges.

I do. I use clippers and two mirrors.

I buzz it all off every 3 to six months. Face and head. Sometimes I get the wife to trim the bottom edge around the back.

I just buzz it. I go from hair and beard to gerber baby in 10-15 minutes.

Started cutting my own hair due to COVID barber shops closures, got corded/cordless one that paid for itself in 2 cuts, paid C$30 for it. Using #2 attachment as I hate long hair and anything shorter is too short.

I started buzzing my half bald head during COVID all barbers closed in NYC and surrounding areas. No clippers to be found so I used the one my wife bought to buzz the dog's butt hair works great

Wow, you're brave! I'd be too scared to use clippers on my own butt hair.

Oh God, last time I tried ~2010, I ended up with basically a bowl cut. Now I have a barber I've been going to ~10 years at $60/cut/3-4weeks (he charges me way less but good vendor-client relationships are important.)

I thought the $25 at Great Clips was pricey. I go about every 2-3 months.

Given she is the only one with any right to judge my hair I figure it’s perfect so she is still doing it.

My wife cuts mine and our boys' hair. Costs too much to take them in and she's actually quite good at it. 2 of them had amazing mullets for awhile!

#1 on the sides/back. #6 on the top. I blend them together around the crown with #2 and #4. Basically, a high-and-tight. It’s worked since 1999.

Well, at least I *think* it’s worked.
