Anyone cut open a Royal Purple oil filter?

Royal Purple filters , at least up to 1/1/19 (and possibly later but I cannot confirm), were made by Champion Labs and are almost identical to M1 and Amsoil filters. Exceptions are the ADBV (its Purple !! ), and the media "might" be slightly different.

Yes but its the added efficiency at 20 microns that purple ADBV adds justify that boutique oil filter price.

Closest to Amsoil, then Wix XP … and similar to Fram XG … Synthetic over wire.
Mobil 1 is a thick blended media … it does not need the wire for structural integrity

IMO, Fram XG is still the best value … but I'm using up other filters for now, and letting Fram purge low PRV inventories

Almost... The M1 is NOT full synthetic media (it's a blend), and it's not wire backed either. The RP is similar to Amsoil, Fleetguard Stratapore, upper end Donaldson, even an Ultra (with a stronger, heavier can).
