I have camped and tented in bear country for the past 60 years.... lets think about the dangers.
40,000 people killed driving someplace last year, likely many of these people were traveling for pleasure.
A quick google search reveals maybe a bear death while camping once every several years.....
OK, my advice, drive careful, keep your seat belt on, use your turn signals.......
and maybe carry a can of pepper spray. Note that most bear/outdoors/backpacking experts point out that it stops a Grizzly in its tracks, most pistols... even with a lucky shot... can not stop or kill the bear until after it has eaten you...
And cook outside, never in your tent/camper in bear country. Heck, I have spent all night fighting off raccoons after cooking bacon in my tent during a rainstorm.... this was in Indiana, NOT bear country.
Finally, at 2 am I put the cast iron skillet - with bacon grease in it- outside the tent and silence quickly prevailed. Found the cast iron skillet about a block away in the morning, polished cleaner than new!!
