Im new to this, i basically use my 55 " flat screen tv, laptop, smartphone, hdmi cable....im not a total new tech geek.
But recently i saw somewhere the flat screen projector for home use and boy that looks cool.
Some people watch movies outside on their garage wall or the pull down screen in the summer months, or take it camping.
What is a budget friendly screen projector i could go check out?
Can i keep it under $800?
I should mention i live in Canada, so we pay more then americans for pretty much everything.
I do have BestBuy in my city, amongst other ones.
I want something i can hook up my laptop and surf the net, watch a dvd thru my dvd player, something i guess i can roll up or put away , nothing too fancy crazy expensive. Wet my beak and try something New to Me.

Are you talking a projector or LCD flat panel? If you are talking a projector, don't get your hopes too high with an $800 projector's picture quality. It will also be a throw away when it comes time to replace the lamp ($$$).

I have a projector mounted to the ceiling in our movie room. We have a pull down screen for it and watch movies as a family on Saturday night. I have a Bluetooth soundbar and a Firestick in use. It came with a replacement bulb, which I have not needed in the 5 years I’ve had that set up (yet). I’ll have to go look at what brand but I bought it on Amazon and I don’t spend lots of money on AV equipment.

I have a BenQ projector in my media room and a 120” screen. I love it! It’s now 10+ years old but still chugging along with almost daily use. One bulb exploded a few years ago so replaced it for a few hundred dollars. If/when the bulb goes, I’ll probably upgrade the projector at that point.

Mine isn’t 4K but pop a Blu Ray in and it’s stunning how clear a ~$1,300 projector looks. I’ll add that my media room has no windows and I have full control off how dark it is in there so that helps boost a cheaper projector’s performance.

We also have a cheap $100 one that we use out by the pool to throw a game up on the side of the house that looks pretty dang good at night for the cost of the thing.

We were going to go with a ceiling mounted projector, but because our basement has so many windows, after doing more research, I've come to the conclusion that a TV will give more brightness, so we ended up with a 98" wall-mounted TV. I still have the wiring in the ceiling though in case at some point in the future we decide to go with a projector.

yes, a pull down screen. I've also seen a remote controlled pop upwards screen, but I imagine that would cost more.

ahhhhh this the type of thing I like to hear! I do not have a media room, just a living room. I understand a bit about wanting a dark room to view, I read up briefly on how it is best to have a dark room too view, but if I dim my living room lights /turn them off and close the blinds (at night) it should be fine, no? Daytime I guess I could use black out curtains or switch back to regular flat screen tv if the room to bright.

What brand is the $100 projector for your side of the house festivities?
You sound like you are enjoying life :)
