I have used some gumout FI cleaner in the past. How about some techron in the tank to clean out the fuel system after that nasty Winter gas is gone? Has anyone tried that?

For the last several years, probably a good 25,000 miles or so, I have added Redline fuel cleaner at least once a month, with recommended maintenance doses. Prior to that used a slug of techron/regane, even MMO in the first tank on a trip. Bike is 97 Guzzi with EFI.

If your running premium in your bike you really shouldn't need it? If you do give it a try I wouldn't mix it any stronger than the label allow.

I know your Not asking about this product but from my past of owning a 1/2 dozen bikes i must say, SeaFoam works the best for the bikes that I've owned.. Talk about a strong cleaner, and decarbonizer. I used it in both carb'd and EFI bikes. You feel it more in the carb'd bikes but thats probably due to the carb being more wasteful and could of been cause more carbon buildup along with other factors. But it did work in both bikes.

I use Fuel Power 60, and I was lucky enough to get some Fuel Power 3000 lately. Not only is it a cleaner, but, it allows me to run 89 octane without pinging, in a bike that is spec'd for high Octane....and it WILL ping on 91 Octane or less without Fuel Power in the tank. I have used Seafoam in cases where the bike was used (and it worked well), as it is a much more powerful (harsh) cleaner than FP 60.

Guys, check the UOA's in the Gasoline engine section. Lots of questions about Techron increasing Iron. Could be cleaning? Could be increased wear? I don't know, but, it's something to be aware of.

I run AMSOIL PI in my V-Rod. Great results. You can see the backs of the intake valves on these bikes when looking down the throttle bodies. Before they had large amounts of black buildup and after they are a nice golden color.

The chemical in Techron (forgot the name) is contained in a more concentrated form in BG 44K. It cost about twenty bucks a can. I use half a can occassionally. It really removes the coking on the back of intake valves.

I only use fuel system cleaners within 500 miles of the next oil change to avoid any oil contamination issues.

PT1 and cos, that is at least a prudent practice. It MAY not be causing any problems, but, there does seem to be some adverse change in UOA values associated with Techron's use.
