I need some help pretty quick. A neighbour's cat that hangs around the house a lot has fallen ill and seems to be getting worse rather quickly. Right now he's drooling excessively and can't quite balance himself on his legs. No obvious signs of injury and at first glance doesn't seem to be in any distress, but I know something is not right. Earlier in the day he was drooling a lot, but he could still walk and keep his balance. His breathing at the moment seems to be ok. Any ideas what's wrong with him?

How hot is it outside? Could he be suffering from heat exhaustion or something?
I'm not sure , but the drooling and unbalance could come from rabies.
Or, he may have eaten something poisonous: poisoned rats or mice, antifreeze?

Im a prevet student, still far from a real vet tho.
It could be a dozen different things, but antifreeze/poison first comes to mind. If its antifreeze theres not much you can do now except put it down.

How old is the cat? Ive seen similar symptoms on old cats with congestive heart failure.

Any chance he was hit in the head, fell from a window, or was hit by a car?
