If it has a CVT, self insure on a Nissan is probably a bad idea.

I was meaning to ask about the dealer type. Non-franchise used vehicle dealers are famous for selling or giving away worthless vehicle warranties.

That is an excellent point. I am referring to new car purchases. I had bought a Nissan Quest some years back that came "Nissan Certified" and I also added on aftermarket coverage through the dealer chain. I used the coverage once when the a/c went flat on the van due to a line leak towards the rear. It was nearly a $2K repair and everything was covered. Right about what the coverage cost me too. What a deal! lol.
