Are there any NAPA stores in your area? NAPA synthetic oil is supposed to be a low cost synthetic and it is a re-badged Valvoline Synpower, at least here in the States.
 
Just got back from Arizona and you can buy regular unleaded gas for #3.05/generic and for branded gas like Chevron and the like $3.25/gallon. What a rip off we pay here in California.

The reason your paying higher gasoline prices in the Golden State....is because CA charges higher state taxes per gallon.

You get the government you vote for & derserve....and as a former Californian....a generation of progressive/liberal government....has put your state (and my former state) at the brink of collapse. I'm glad I'm not living there anymore.
 
America as a whole pollutes more than any other nation per capita. Co2 needs to be reigned in somehow and that translates to higher fuel prices. And good for it too. I know I burn less gas because it's expensive and ride my Harley everywhere possible to save me on fuel. People don't care about tge air they breathe and what state they are leaving the world for the next generation. I hope gas goes up to 10 bucks a gallon,might help Americas carbon footprint.

I do feel bad though for the ones who didn't vote for their current leaders. $3.25 is also the norm for Georgia gas prices.
But isn't Oregon about as liberal as California? Or is it just Portland?
 
Yes.....Oregon has a generally liberal government....but we don;t have any sales tax (CA/L.A.County has 9.75%)...and our state income tax and gasoline tax.... is lower than CA. The cost of living is much lower as well.

As a retiree.....I couldn't afford to live in California anymore.
 
The price point and product in terms of wholesale (mainly bulk,some cases, non retail) is where the product was ultimately positioned for. It can compete with some of the cheaper synthetics offered by Shell, Service Pro (Citgo), Conoco Phillips etc. There are also many private labels available to the market and many shops, dealers and installers who may not be as informed as us will pick on price alone.

Now for the retail market, it also made sense. 14 out of the top 20 selling cars in the US now come with a synthetic as a factory fill and require that continued service. These obviously are not very expensive cars, we're talking about Corollas, Camrys, Cobalts and other economy cars. The average consumer and buyer of these cars are used to paying $19.99,$29.99, $35.99 for a conventional oil change. They would be shocked to pay $70+ for a Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol EDGE or Quaker State Ultimate Durability oil change.

Offering a cheaper synthetic alternative by the leader in synthetics just makes sense for a number of reasons.
 
Initial feeling on first fill of Super Synthetic is that the engine sounds "buzzy" as compared to the last fill of Quaker State Conventional .
 
i picked it up by mistake thinking it was mobil 1 and used it on the last oil change. it meets all the specs for manufacturescertification and have my oci's usually between 5000-7000 miles.I'm at 6000 now.Its good oil and its about $2 cheaper per quart. My mechanic said its just mobil 1 with a lil bit of difference in the additives.

Uhh America pollutes the most? Have you been to China lately? Might want to think again about that remark. Considering they burn mainly coal on outdated burning techniques by our standards. Not to mention if there's a hole in the ground, I bet you money there is trash being buried in it.

Its not the same at all. Different base stocks and way different add packs. You will soon learn on here that you can't believe anything a mechanic says about oil.

You hope gas goes to $10 a gal? Do you ride your Harley in the Canadian winters? My daughter has 5 children, and she has an Infinity SUV for transportation. Try that on a Harley. Don't Harleys poulute as much or more than most cars? I doubt if you have a clue what your saying.

And your daughter with 5 kids and an suv isn't my problem. I really don't care what your gubment taxes you for fuel. Keep it coming. I drive my lifted chevy pulling my tool trailer to and from work then pack my wife and kids in the minivan. And as a contractor I write it all off.
See this thing called tge Kyoto accord was an agreement between us civilized countries to cap our emissions. Your government signed it but it seems you can't stay within it. Go to 20 bucks a gallon. Doesn't bother me. Flame suit on

+1 tig......Tell me why 90% of the Canucks live within 100 miles of the US border.... Possibly to take advantage of our cheaper gas, oil....and everything else....and not having to wait a year or more for major surgery....which their socialist government medical plan can't provide when needed.

India may not have any direct effects on our land but the atmosphere can carry things overseas. Eventually we'll be eating acid rain from Chinese and Indian pollutants.

Your Harley may be EPA compliant, but so are the V8 SUVs. They are EPA compliant so they can be allowed to be driven on the roads, not because they burn clean.

Imposing more taxes on fuel will shut down our economy, and yours too.

I could be the average motorist because both M1 and Super Syn hurt too much at the cash register.
