any experience with the new Kendall LT?

Hi guys,

Ive been thinking about cutting back a little on expenses.

I was looking at using the Kendall synthetic blend in my wifes Mazda instead of the Syntec for the next oil change.

I usually go 6 months/ 5-6K miles. Any issues? Its like 2.70 a quart Canadian, and I like that a privately owned Napa sells it, not Costco or C.T or ...........walmart.

I can also usually get Mobil Super 1000 fairly readily and inexpensively too.

Kendall makes a good product that should easily do 5-6K. Give it a try.

You won't go wrong with a CP product. I have been running CP oil in my fleet cars for 20+ years. The local Goodyear store is now using that new fancy Kendall "GT-1® High Performance Synthetic Blend Motor Oil with Liquid Titanium" in my '10 Subaru Outback. I run this fleet car like I stole it, change it at 5K. I like this oil, never is low on the stick, looks and feels great for the 30K I now have on the car.

Our shop uses the Kendall blend almost exclusively in 5w-20, 5w30 and 10w30. It runs smooth and quiet in every vehicle that comes into the shop and still "seems" to have life left in it after as many as 7K miles in some customers cars/trucks much to the extreme dismay of my boss.

We had a Ford Ranger with a 3.0 V6 (IIRC) that came in for a tune up and service. I looked and the sticker to see if we did the last service - we had. After working some quick math, it came out to a bit over 7k miles and 7mo. I double checked to see if our Wix filter was still on there and in fact it was. The engine was running quiet and semi smooth (needed tune up related work) and the oil still appeared to have a bit of color to it - it didn't pour out like the black tar of death... By the way, this truck is owned by a local contractor, so you can imagine the use it gets.

Another example was a 5k/1yr service on a Toyota Matrix with the 1.8. Again, no apparent issues - the oil came out fine with plenty of color. I know this is no substitute for a used oil analysis, but again, at least it wasn't black tar of death in a rattly or knocking engine.

No doubt a great product, so if you can get your grubby mits on it for a reasonable price, then by all means - go for it.

What type of shop do you work at?

I've got the same 1.8. I've never been able to get a straight answer (I guess I could just call a Toyota dealer), but is the valve timing adjustable on those?

Can't comment on that particular product as I haven't run it but I have run Kendall products from CP( and even before CP - sold it once upon a blue moon as well )and they are excellent as a rule. I have my Sister running their full synthetic GT1 w/ LT right now in her car and it is doing very well. Kendall as a whole is very high on my name brand oil list.

Everyones cutting back on expenses and the basis OCI issue is always a hot question to discuss. As the others have saif Kenall "synthetic" is and excellent oil to use and is manufactured by Cocnco Phillips/Union 76 as I've heard it from this forum.

I just had my 01' Durango serviced and wanted to try this low priced oil but there was non on the shelve so I had to spend a few bucks more and get Mobil 1 again. OH well perhaps in the next year I'll get a chance to try it.

If you can get it from your local parts department then I'd go for it in a heart beat!!!! My next alternate would be Quaker State "Q" brand of synthetic oil. It's a little more expensive than Kendall but not as high as M1. Consider that too.

A garage that does all manner of repairs, except body work. I'm still learning the many nuances of newer cars and the associated technology, so I cannot answer your question. I'd imagine though that it is not adjustable except via the timing belt/chain, although I'm sure there is an aftermarket solution available.

why in the world conoco/ philips does not market there oils like mobil castrol Pennzoil and ohers is just stupid i would love too try kendall oils but no one has it around here

Ryan, I can just echo what others have already said, From my experience, a very good oil! Have about 3k on the LT 5w20 in my MGQ, and am very happy with "feel, performance, and quietness" thus far. Going for a 6k OCI.
