Any bud select 55 drinkers here?

+1 I've had Michelob Ultra several times, and I really enjoy it.

I can't think of an uncensored word to describe the kind of people who I envision writing serious reviews on beeradvocate. If you like a beer, it's a good beer. That's the only test I know of.

I agree. I love GOOD beer, but I can also enjoy plain old Budweiser, Miller Lite, or PBR. It's all about what I want, not what somebody else tells me I should drink.

Agreed, although I admit that when I feel like experimenting with new (to me) beers, I do sometimes browse through highly ranked beers on beeradvocate and then go looking for them in my local liquor store.

In Canada, we call American beer "beer flavoured water". That's the only uncensored word we can come up with to describe it.

For those who find beeradvocate useful, there is also a good site call ratebeer.com.

I remember the great beer reviewer, the recently deceased Michael Jackson (no, not *him*, and no relation) responding to the question "What's your favourite beer?" His response was something to the effect of (I'm paraphrasing a bit) "Well, if I'm eating a hearty meal in autumn, I'll take a Rochefort 10; if I'm at a Sacramento Sundogs ball game, you can pry the Budweiser from my cold, dead hands!"

In Minnesota they have the blue law of sorts however, beer sales are allowed on Sundays the catch being 3.2 % alcohol content beer. Is this the only state this occurs in? Wisconsin is 40 mile away and they have the best strong beer in the world. In Minnesota they have 3.2 beer joints. Thats all they sell.

Here in AL, we have blue laws of all sorts, which vary by county/city. For example, in my home county Sunday alcohol sales are strictly prohibited. In the neighboring county where I work, one can buy hard liquor, any wine and any beer on Sunday.

I have had smooth moonshine recently. It can be done.

The moonshine I am referring to is commercially available. It is called "Midnight Moon"; it is Junior Johnson's brand. I would never, never, never, never touch moonshine made anywhere except in a commercial distillery.

Wow... That must be bad.

I'm surprised A-B would put out a product which is that bad.

A-B makes Natty too.

Natty is 95 calories, so it's not quite as watered down. I'll drink it, but it's the sort of beer I drink when I mow the lawn or something.

Now if you want to party, Natural Ice will do the trick. 5.9% alcohol, and more than 95 calories.

In college we used to get kegs of Natty Ice for $55 if you had a shell. You could get a bunch of people drunk with one of those bad boys. It tastes great after 2 cups.

Alcohol = empty calories.

That being said, if you are trying to avoid empty calories, you should not drink beer. Yes, some beers contain more calories than others due to leftover sugars from the ferment, etc. But let's face it, drinking fizzy water with that low of an alcohol content is just going to make you empty the bladder more often.

The way Anheuser works, they brew a batch to a certain strength and cut it with water to make different products. Bud - some water. Bud Light - more water. Bud 55 - even more water. So I have a feeling that this is nothing more than watered down Bud Light, which is a joke, because Bud Light is already watery.

2.4% is definitely something like the low-alcohol "table beer" from old Europe, that was consumed by pregnant women and children, or when drunkenness was not desired!

LOL! I was about to say, in Europe this might be qualified as "non-alcoholic" beer. :)

I really have not had a good light beer, honestly. Bud Select 55 was TERRIBLE, just like seltzer water. Bud Light isnt terrible but pretty weak. Sam Adams light is not shabby, but the flavor is not something I like.

If I drink a beer, I want it to be a GOOD beer. As long as you are not putting down several beers a day, go and enjoy a "full calorie" beer!

My favorite beer at the moment is Great Lakes Dortmunder. From tap, it is something special... Good reason to live in Cleveland! The Christmas Ale is incredible as well.

I also though enjoy the standard Budweiser.. It is a good drinking beer with good flavor. I dont always need something fancy and strong. From tap I find it delicious, personally!

I need to stock up on some beer this weekend (this post reminded me!). Have one bottle left of Hofbrauhaus (original?) left. Pretty solid beer! Have to pick out something new, I always like to try new ones.

Not a big fan of Stouts or other very dark, chocolate/coffee beers. I generally like the normal Lager/Ale variety, moreso, good drinking beers.
