any advantage of 10W-30 over 5W-30 or 0W-30?

I have a 96 Lexus LS400, 125K, burns no oil.

any advantage of 10W-30 over 5W-30 or 0W-30, keeping in mind that I use full synthetics like PU, M1EP, etc. and that it doesn't get over 105°F (40°C) nor below 15°F (-10°C) here in Alabama

Sounds like politics.

Form an opinion then keep asking questions until you find an answer that justifies it

use the 5w30 like your car calls for. syn would be even better. I had a '96 v6 camry that had 270,000 miles when I traded it in, didn't burn a drop of oil. used 5w30 syn all the time, including summer when temp reached over 110 F

Ever so slightly, yes. 10-30 would be a tiny bit more shear resistant. Not enough to really matter, though. In Bama, as well as in South TX, 10-30 is a great choice.

Big +1 to this. Sums it up perfectly.

I agree, especially older API versions.

+3

I just saw an outstandingly low NOACK for 10w30 vs all other grades just 2 days ago in a PDS- think it was Chevron. I can't find it off hand right now, but the 10w30 specifically had a very low NOACK
