Rented one and did 1000 miles in two days. Very comfortable. Personally though I would go with the slightly smaller Malibu.

I am currently renting a 2007 Impala with the 3.5L, slow, makes noise, and feels as if it is going to fall apart. Cheap inside and cheap outside. But it is a rental till my V gets fixed from the neighbor backing into it.

Wow! You'd pick the 3.5l Impala over the 3.8l Grand Prix?

The police car has bigger brakes.

That sounds great WishIhadatruck, but the differences in Impala and Grand Prix brakes isn't the issue. What I'm saying is the current(well, at least for 2007) police package Impalas and general consumer Impalas have the same size brakes.

Wellllll.... when that happens, it doesn't matter anymore as to what look you're trying to emulate.
However, it is a lot of fun to do. It quickly puts some of the fun back into driving. How else will a P0S Impala rental put a big 'ol smile on your face?
