Rented one and did 1000 miles in two days. Very comfortable. Personally though I would go with the slightly smaller Malibu.

Yeah ... I guess most family sedans would fall short if you're use to driving a Vette.
You bet. I'm 6 foot 3. Getting in and out of a Grand Prix is a b*tch. The Impala is much more comfortable driving car for me.
Plus, an Impala is a great stealth vehicle on the interstate. Rent a white, black or silver one. Then get the tire iron out, pop off the flimsy silver wheelcovers, and you get instant respect out on the road.

Actually the Impala's had bigger brakes than the Grand Prix's from '00 to '03. I think the '04 GP's got the larger front discs that year when they redesigned it. The older GP's can accomodate the larger rotors however with new front caliper brackets although certain rims styles such as the crosslace design won't clear.
That sounds great WishIhadatruck, but the differences in Impala and Grand Prix brakes isn't the issue. What I'm saying is the current(well, at least for 2007) police package Impalas and general consumer Impalas have the same size brakes.

Wellllll.... when that happens, it doesn't matter anymore as to what look you're trying to emulate.
However, it is a lot of fun to do. It quickly puts some of the fun back into driving. How else will a P0S Impala rental put a big 'ol smile on your face?
