Having encountered a fridge that it’s cold settings for the freezer worked in reverse how do I set this colder?

It’s starting to get on the edge for being cold enough as a freezer

It was set to A and I just set it to C, I don’t remember which is colder, one of the old fridges you could either make the fridge colder and the freezer would be warmer or visa versa, nice having independent settings .

Ideally you want the fridge temperature to be 34-38F so you should stick a thermometer in there to double check. When I arrived at the house I’m staying in this month they had the fridge set to 46, which is dangerously high for bacteria formation 😬 I set it to 38.

On my 1980's vintage garage refrigeratior the fridge setting is the actual thermostat and the freezer adjustment is just a variable damper that regulates the rate the freezer air is admitted into the fridge section. Get the refrigerator temperature adjusted to what you like and then dial in the freezer.

My mom never wants strictly a freezer but about the only thing kept in her basement fridge is canned stuff and pop.

If I remember correctly the fridge was freezing stuff, I will have to mess around with the fridge now that I cranked up the freezer.

Have to remember that any thermostat, thermometer not digital have a born on date. Meaning when are made they start working. In a warehouse, on a truck or on a shelf. If their filled with mercury for get about there long gone. Even if there filled with a refrigerant they been working since born.
