Because SuperSpyware paid Dell to be included.

Malwarebytes FTW.

Also Spybot Search & Destroy.

+1 on both. I'm impressed with both products.

Malwarebytes has caught infections for me that have eluded McAfee and Symantec.

Spybot has arrested installed infections before they managed to do any damage.

Do not Google for either program; you may get fake sites (thanks, Larry and Sergei!).

This is the REAL Spybot URL:
www.safer-networking.org/

And this is the REAL Malwarebytes page:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Pay the money and get the Pro versions of both.

None, I've found the free eset online scan finds more.

occasionally I'll use malware bytes afterwards but it hasnt found anything yet.

I have paid versions of malwarebytes in my other computers and on three seperate occasions it was turned off somehow outside and my computer was affected. I found it to be useless.

That is one quirk with Malwarebytes: when your computer restarts, you must turn on filesystem protection manually. It's weird, I know. But the latest version of Malwarebytes now warns you with a dialog box that this is needed, so it's a lot harder to miss.

Interesting comment Noobie. Is there a good reference that compares the different Malware programs? I wonder why the Dell "expert" suggested I run SuperAntiS and he even installed it on my new computer. I have both SAS and Malwarebyts installed free versions. I may run each separately in the future and see if one catches more malware than the other. Would this be a good test? Ed

It just depends on when the definitions are updated by the software company. Lately I've been removing a lot of Malware for friends. I've tried that test for a while now.On some days SAS is more effective than MWB, and other days its just the opposite. Granted I'm not an IT guy but what I've found it is never best to rely on any one program for removing viruses or Malware. Both programs often find something the other program missed which is why I use both. When I find a virus or Malware I run SAS, MWB, the virus scanner the person has on the computer, assuming it is up to date, and then ESET. So far I've only encountered one computer which was so badly infected I had to wipe the drive and install Linux because the owner of the PC didn't have any of the installation disks and she wanted to try something different. So far so good.

Edit: Recently I removed Malware for a friend's son, his machine was loaded. Prior to starting I created an image file. I ran SAS, then restored from the image and ran MWB. SAS removed more stuff that day that MWB did. Then I did the procedure I mentioned above.

No problem, just run them one at a time.

You can look for tests online in fact even YouTube tests show that SuperAntiSpyware performs POORLY.

Both professional and amateur tests show the same thing, SAS underperforms compared to other antimalware software.

I just did a Malwarebytes scan an hour ago and it came up 100% clean.
I did Superantispyware minutes later and it uncovered a half dozen malwares.

I even use Spybot after these two scans I listed above. But I don't have any of them running 24/7. I have to manually start each one and I do it once a week, while surfing the net at places like BobIsTheOilGuy.com

My anti-virus software is ESET....... love it.

Beware the freebie malware sniffers that only show the infections. Many are bogus or installed by the freeware.

I use Avast but it has it's shortcomings.

Free Panda Cloud antivirus is getting high marks in 2014. Anyone using it? I'm needing new protection on my TV-streaming laptop this weekend (expired software) and may need to wait on the ESET deals until later this year.
