Another Rotella thread

Well, it's still "recommended" for JASO MA, MA2 ... per the PDS.
I don't know what those Polaris and Honda applications spec, but I suspect they would be covered.

BTW ... I don't like the way they (Shell) lump all the "Specifications, Approvals & Recommendations" all into one group. That muddies the water as to know which is actually "approved" vs just "recommended". That's a crappy marketing cop out IMO.

agree.

You are correct, the polaris doesn't need JASO as it doesn't have a wet clutch, but the Honda does.

Just wondering if this "diesel" oil is good to go in gasoline engines.

Not in all gas engines. Specifically (and I reference info from a LSJr video), it's a concern if some diesel rated lubes are used in GDI applications, because of LSPI concerns around the piston rings. Has to do with the amount of Ca and how it can accumulate around the ring pack and then auto-ignite in some conditions. (to the best of my recollection of his info). Best to use an SP rated lube for GDI applications.

However, that concern wouldn't apply to your ORV applications, so it'd be fine IMO.

I used Rotella for years and years in my various wet-clutch JASO MA, MA2 spec'd motorcycles and never had an issue.
