I was wondering with my 03 dakota 4.7L. it has almost 36,000 miles on it. I was wondering if I should just do the ARX maintance dose and skip the full cleaning process. oil was changed every 3,000 miles (but dont know with the first 12,000 miles as I bought it used) or should I do the full cleaning process?

Darkjedi,

I just purchased a 2002 Chrysler T/C with 47,000 miles the oil change history was good and I am going to use the 3oz maintenance program only. I plain on taking the valve cover off to see if there is sludge or no sludge will post photos

well the valve covers are a PITA to take off. so will wait till I swap out the cams in it for HO cams this spring. but from what I seen on other 4.7 that people replaced the cams in them the inside of the covers was bassically spotless no slude from what I have seen. maybe some varnish

Hey dont waste your time with just the HO cams Ive got a 4.7 too, Im planing on saving up for the KRC perforamnce 206 Cams which generate around 30-40Hp and around 60-70 FT Ilbs. Much more than just the HO cams.

sounds like a great setup. I will prob just go with the 68mm as not doing too much in the engine and dont need the 70mm

you thought about 4:10 gears? would work great on that setup you have listed. also with all those mods you might look into a custom flash for your PCM and dont buy the superchip programer. heard they can tweak it more for your applications. jsut have to tell them your mods.

Ive not thought about that yet but that sounds like a good idea especially after the cams if I need more fuel added. The gears Im considering Ive just got to find a local shop that I can trust to install them.
Im trying to play catchup with my brother in law who has a 6.0 chevy.

The full cleaning is recommended. The engine likely has carbon baked behind the rings in the ring grooves, and other places.

I thought about that but dont want to sink the money in to KRC cams. the HO cams will be good enough as its a 4x4 and not going to turn 15 sec 1/4 miles times. jsut want a lil more umph. the HO cams will do fine for my application. thanks for the thought on the KRC.

you getting a fastman TB? going to be another thing I am looking at. and a superchip programer. man I wish santa was real lol.

lmao I know it would be so nice. Yeah heres my plans so far.

New Catback Exhaust
Fastman 70mm TB
Cold Air Intake (Probably AEM Brute force)
Superchips
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Electric Fans
Krc 206 Cams
