Another new Jeep?

Its built on car underpinning from the Dodge Caliber (neon replacement). However this will suit 95-99% of the owners who stay on the road. And also hopefully make the ride more pleasant.

Drop a diesel in there and I'm interested. My wife likes Jeep's so we might end up looking at one.

The Dodge Caliber looks good too, and I suppose will offer much of the same and be cheaper than the Jeep. I don't expect either to be useful offroad, but that's fine for what we need.

"Jeep executives claim that a production Patriot would be "Trail Rated" despite its car-based underpinnings."

"Whereas the Compass is an untraditional-looking Jeep that aims to bring new buyers to the brand, the Patriot is aimed at Jeep loyalists."

Jeep loyalists don't want IFS/IRS for offroading...

Nice try.

Amen, brother. Trail rated with front wheel drive. That thing would get stuck just driving TO the trailhead.

"My new Jeep is Grocery-Rated. Oh yeah, it's BAD."

Looks very close to the ground to me. It won't make through any of the trails I've been on. It might make it on the access roads. Making this thing Trail Rated only cheapens the rating for the rest of the vehicles. Jeep should know better than to stick the badge on this thing. There is already a credibility issue with other 4x4s on the real trails that I wheel on.
