Another Mobil 1 5w40 question

i installed the catch can and it is at work. already has oil in it after 100 miles.

I run Mobil 1 T&S in both Taurus sedans, in order to simplify my oil stock amd also because I need to in the older one due to oil consumption with a light oil.

I've been 'playing' with the intake vacuum on the older one, and recently changed from the stock PVC valve to one for a Mustang 5.0L. I didn't that is was for a Mustang as I just compared similar looking units and picked one where the plunger sat lower when it was held upside down. Another difference that I've noticed is that the plunger travel is less, so overall it will have a lower flow rate. It still passes the 'hold stiff paper test at idle' test with flying colors, so I'm not as worried about the flow rate being too low. It runs a lot better a highway speed, starts up with more authority, but I still need to chase down a hesitation off of idle (suspect the brake booster is leaking at a low rate). A coworker said that the 5.0L Mustang has a lower idle vacuum due to the higher lift cam, which should work well on my older, tired, but not dead Taurus.

Using the 5.0L Mustang PCV valve I've noticed that the oil consumption has slowed way down, which is another benefit.

it would be interesting to try a different pcv valve but i think the one for the neon is neon specific. a similar design may be used on the 2.4 but i would bet it would be the same, but i dont know unless i check.

does anyone here know where i can find 1/2" and 3/8" vacuum line, advance and autozone does not carry vacuum line that big here.

i have 1/2" heater hose and 3/8" fuel line right now. they seem to be ok but they dont appear to be round when the engine is running, maybe its my imagination.
