Both in Canada but still both result in totaled cars. Interesting documentation in this vid including MSRP of battery @ 3:50 and some quotes from Hyundai CANADA. Hmm
Great question, maybe it was rushed to market. If so it could turnout to be a costly lesson. Why is Hyundai's battery pack so fragile and why didn't something like this happen during testing?

Reasonable for a battery considering the cost savings from fuel this owner receives. It’s time to pay up now![]()
That’s OK, my work Transit 250’s electric power steering can’t keep up with the speed I turn the wheel either. Electric PS-a solution in search of a problem! What testing? Various recalls over the years told me there's very little actual testing taking place..
T+hey had a recall on the i30 (accent in the USA) after it failed the Euro NCAP ESC test: the power steering couldn't keep up with the rate the robot turns the steering wheel. They said internal testing never revealed that. Yeah it won't reveal that if you don't try it.... I mean, you send a car off to get tested and never even tried if it can do it???
the recall was a software update btw...

That's totally application specific. Sounds like they selected the wrong one for the application. That’s OK, my work Transit 250’s electric power steering can’t keep up with the speed I turn the wheel either. Electric PS-a solution in search of a problem!
Its almost like they want them to failThe local GMC dealer couldn’t deliver 2 of the new Hummer EVs for months because of water intrusion into the battery compartment problems and there was no fix. Guess they didn’t drive one in rain in testing.
Customers shouldn't be beta testers but they are and not just with cars.
The impression that I get from a LOT of companies these days is that the consumer are the beta testers. Why is Hyundai's battery pack so fragile and why didn't something like this happen during testing?
They keep saying the cooling system ruptured, with zero evidence of it. Sounds like BS to me. There is no way you're DC fast charging, driving for 3 days, etc. with a cooling system ruptured and not getting some kind of issue or light on the dash or anything from it.Why is Hyundai's battery pack so fragile and why didn't something like this happen during testing?
Remember the F-117 stealth paint washing off in the rain? Remember when we "passed UHC to find out what was in the bill"? Literally every industry seems to be like this, and it's annoying. The impression that I get from a LOT of companies these days is that the consumer are the beta testers.
2 people who had nothing but cosmetic issues out of how many sales? I'd hardly call that "a real mess".Sheesh....this whole battery thing is becoming a real mess.
