Every time I open a new tab,I get a page with "You have opened a new tab" on top.I then have to hit home to get to my home page. This is really annoying. This is from AVG.How do i get rid of this feature?

I used to use Avast when I used antivirus. I found that to be the best at the time. I think it's been almost 3 years since I installed any antivirus. Just don't click yes on anything that you don't know and you won't give a virus permission to install itself.

That's correct. Of course, there are always going to be differences of opinion, but I do this kind of work for a living and I can tell you it will work better than AVG and your computer will be more responsive and faster.

Seconded, and while I don't do this work for a living I do do it as a hobby/side job (beer and oil money) and that's all I ever use anymore is MSE.

I always put a little text file in notepad up on the screen for when the person first turns on the machine upon receiving it explaining what was done, how many piece of malware found, that I uninstalled whatever AV they had and replaced it with MSE and to leave well enough alone and not go back and install their pet AV program that helped get them into this mess in the first place.

MSE versus anything in the consumer market and MSE wins. You have to get into enterprise stuff to beat it, and even then most of it doesn't measure up. It's high quality.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with Avast, but MSE beats it hands down for a variety of reasons beyond just detection. Its integration into the OS means lower resource usage along with more successful removal due to its integration into the OS.

I've found NOD32 to be more effective. But of course it isn't free either.
