Animals are capable of some amazing things, a lot of people could learn from them.

I got 14-15 years average out of my dogs. They were all super special and my neighbors were often amazed.
Maybe because they were all rescues???

Breeds have different lifespans, generally the bigger the dog the lower the average lifespan. Dogs that are well loved, eat well and get exercise live good long lives. Being a rescue can mean anything from an owner dying to being abused and surrendered and probably doesn't have much to do with longevity.

But you didn't say your rescue doggies were nice, you said you got 14-15 years out of them. That sounds a bit suspicious, most people say their dog lived 15 years... maybe your rescues were junkyard guard dogs?

I have 3 Maine Coon cats....two are big boys....
One got me up at 1:30 am when he heard somebody trying to break in my back door in 2019
If not for Foxy ......I might not be here today....like me they are getting up in age now.....they will be 12 in Aug which breaks my heat watching them get old....but im getting up there in years also and almost died from pnumonia in Oct last year.....which got me off my butt to have my guys took care of in case I go before they do. When your old and have no living relatives like me your pets become everything to you be it cats or dogs.....
