And soon VW will join the Tesla fold?

I stopped at Eddies World on I15 to Las Vegas few weeks back. Eddie has like 10-12 Tesla chargers and 40 cars lined up with very unhappy people.
At the same time, I was out in 5mins with Atlas driving 85-90mph uphill. Only problem were various Tesla’s going 55mph preserving power, probably thinking of that line at Eddie’s world.
Right On!!!

My bet lots of arguments and fights with Tesla owners fighting with owners of competitors vehicles at Superchargers.
That was my thoughts exactly. The supercharger network is a huge advantage and expensive to duplicate edge that Tesla has over the rest of the competition. Why would they disadvantage their own customers to help GM and Ford.

The whole "rising tide lifts all boats" thing. Besides that, Tesla is apparently getting a bunch of federal subsidies for doing it. But overall it sounds like they think it's good for the overall EV industry, where Tesla won't give any special breaks to Tesla owners, other than perhaps free credits for various things.

You answered your own question. Tesla is not going to hurt their customers.
It's call money. And domination. By 2030
There are times and places when there is a line of cars waiting, but that is extremely rare. Tesla tracks and knows where the demand is and more additional chargers are installed based on that demand.
In addition, GM and Ford are currently bit players in the EV market. It will be at least a year before their new EVs get the Tesla charge port.
The details of the Ford and GM deal have not been disclosed, but make no mistake; there will be tons more Superchargers. Then add in VW.

More use of existing assets (the Superchargers) is pure margin. Obviously charging is an essential part of the EV business. Tesla is in an enviable position. Supercharger network growth can accelerate as revenue increases. Not to mention battery development. Tesla will use their own solar and battery storage business to reduce their energy costs. Vertical integration...

Look at Tesla's success. The company knows what they are doing based on financial results.

I get that backups happen with charging in large areas. I’ve never seen it because I don’t live in areas like that. I stopped for lunch in the Wisconsin Dells today for Culver’s which had an 8 spot Supercharger station right off of the highway. It was busy. I’ve never seen so many Teslas in one spot personally. There were 4-6 Teslas plugged in at a time and considering the extremely heavy traffic I think they probably selected the amount of charging spots appropriately for the area. Between charging and getting on and off the highway I saw approximately 20 Teslas in a half mile stretch.

So don't buy one then?

🤦‍♂️

We get it, you don’t like EVs.

There seem to be a whole lot of people offended that anyone would buy an EV.

Of course the most rabid are those who think there's a right to the most polluting vehicles possible and who take that out against drivers of hybrids, RVs, and even bicyclists. The whole "rolling coal" thing.

All it would take is an adapter. Tesla already provides an J1772 to NACS adapter with every car and charges $50 for a replacement.

There aren't too many NACS input to J1772 output adapters available, but there is at least one. Tesla has already made some of their Superchargers available to non-Tesla vehicles.

In addition that this, an adapter makes Tesla's destination charger systems (usually just a Wall connector mounted on a post or wall) available for pretty much any vehicle. There are also reports that Tesla paid for separate J1772 charging systems at destination charging locations on the premise that it was good for the EV industry as a whole to make charging as available as possible.

The problem is how the statement is said. The go to is "EVs just don't work." where it should be "I think EVs won't work for me." The "I think" and "for me" are the biggest. That's fine, don't buy one if it's not for you. I don't know what's to be gained by being argumentative and calling EV driver's idiots. It just makes them sound like the opening between the fleshy bits they sit on.

The problem with the J1772 is the level 2 charging. It would be nice if they included a CCS adaptor, but at least for me if I can find a CCS charging station I can find a close by supercharger. If I was looking for CCS here, they're few in far between except for a few major areas. Even in the vast expanses between cities I'd drive by 3-4 Superchargers per every CCS and most of those CCS are limited to 50kW.

Yeah - when I started that topic on my older parents wanting to get a Tesla (which they have now and enjoy) there were several suggesting maybe a different EV, but a few talking about how easy it would be to get stranded or how it wouldn't be able to go on a road trip reliably.

However, I've since learned that it just takes a shift in how think of getting from point to point. I've been driving them around and I've so many Tesla cars with out of state license plates, so obviously drives have learned how to drive long distances.

Well, let me explain what happened.
I turn to Eddie’s world and thinking: “what God forsaken place is this?” “Is fuel good?” So, it was like 98f, wife takes 4&7yrs old inside to restroom. And boy was that mistake.
Apparently Eddie (whoever he is) figured he is only game there, so he racked up place with stuffiest, toys etc.
After $44 in stuffies, I was trying to run away as fast as possible.
NEVER stop at Eddie’s world with small kids. Or Tesla. It was Friday, traffic from LA to LV was super busy, so there were bunch of vehicles. But, would not like to be Tesla driver on that road.
